Trump on Hasan Piker:

Hasan Piker is a terrible liability for the Democratic Party.

He is a communist — there’s no question about it.

Trump’s gonna end up inviting him to the white house and then fawning over him like he did Mamdani.

He fried the brains of so many people in the media this week, by (rightly) calling the US a larger terrorist threat to the world than Al-Qaeda. I like to think it made a few people think at least. Real people I mean, not the liberal braintrust.

This idea that everything that happens outside in the real world needs to be posted into the slop comm is detrimental to the website. The slop comm was intended to be a place for things that are so offensive that it harms people. Now almost everything is posted in the slop comm. It is the second largest comm and growing. The slop comm is not serving its intended purpose of protecting users from actually harmful content.

Donald Trump is the president of the United States. Hasan Piker is a friend of Chapo Trap House. This is Chapo Trap House comm. Neither of the subjects are so offensive that they need to be quarantined. The president of the united states beefing with a twitch streamer is a notable subject of discussion and related to the Chapo Trap House universe.

Hasan’s twitch stream was basically a spin-off show from the Chapo podcast. Chapo promoted Hasan in 2019. Felix Biederman is a good friend of Hasan. Felix helped launch Hasan’s twitch audience by co-streaming Fortnite in 2018.

Are you Chapo Trap House? Why are you saying that a friend of the podcast shouldn’t be discussed in a community focused on the podcast?

I guarantee you, most newcomers to the site don’t even know or care to know what the hell a “chapo trap house” even is, this comm might as well be the equivalent of a main channel in a Discord server.

Hasan is the current face of the slop comm for a reason, it’s one struggle session after another for a fucking Twitch streamer on this site.

I don’t know what is the point of 80% of the communities here. I blocked the ones on topics that harm me, and I barely look at which community something is posted in, because it provides almost no context to the post. All this to say that the organization here is terrible, partially due to overlapping and unclear communities, but also due to the Lemmy limitation of being unable to move posts.

Do you always talk about yourself in the third person? >most newcomers to the site don’t even know or care to know what the hell a “chapo trap house”

Also you contradict yourself. You say that the chapo trap house comm isn’t about chapo trap house, but that the slop comm must be about hasan because it has a picture of hasan. Those are 2 opposing statements.

The reason that Hasan is the photo of the slop comm is that it was changed recently and I think that the mods admire him. That’s why they chose a shirtless photo. Half the website is lusting after him. It’s like when a teenager puts a poster of their celebrity crush on their bedroom wall.

Also Hasan is the reason why that comm is called slop and not because it’s about him. It’s because Hasan calls refers to maga supporters as “hogs” and hasan had a segment called “hog watch”. Several posters suggested that the comm be named “hog watch” or “hog trough” and the mods chose the name “slop”, a spin on hog trough, which then the word slop became overused in mainstream culture.

I didn’t “contradict” myself, I said it “might as well be” I don’t see people posting exclusively updates about the pod, also I never said the slop comm is exclusively for Hasan, if someone started posting about Assmold (what? He’s UNFORTUNATELY also “relevant” to American politics) or some other freak they’d be told to fuck off to the slop comm

I don’t want to see anything of that asshole anywhere nor his little army of fans, I had my fill of him, I’ve never once seen him apologise for any of his personal faults, and after the Platner worship I drew the line. I unfollowed him on every place, I do not care about the Democratic Party’s Twitch Daddy.

And people complain about this site not being able to retain new members, I wonder why.

You raise a lot of interesting questions, like: why do hexbears have shirtless photos of Hasan but not shirtless photos of Asmongold? Why isn’t the slop comm a shirtless photo of Asmongold?

Also you assert that Hexbear doesn’t receive new users because hexbears are supportive of Hasan. Why then is Hasan’s community so much larger than Hexbear? Hexbear was created at the same time that Hasan started streaming and the communities were the same size. Now Hasan millions of fans, some who say he inspired them to engage in activism, and Hexbear still seems smaller than when it was a subreddit. It must be Hasan that is holding back Hexbear’s growth? Could it be that Hasan made his community have focus on optimism while communities like /c/slop are built on pessimism?

You don’t have to like Hasan. There are even many people in Hasan’s community who criticize him. I said that it hurts the website to say that everything that you don’t like should be posted into the slop comm. I think it’s totally fine that you don’t like Hasan. My point is that comms other than /c/slop are allowed to have posts that you don’t like.

                internet-delenda-est

Why then is Hasan’s community so much larger than Hexbear?

It’s almost as if streams are a more entertaining and interactive medium than niche forums, I’ve seen it constantly be mentioned here by Hasan fans that he intentionally has more soft politics to appeal to his wide American audiance, as compared to being a hard-liner, which would not have the same appeal for Americans for obvious reasons.

He streams everyday, at a very specific time, you get a little alert when he streams if you follow him as you know, people make a habit of watching, I don’t blame them he can be funny, like you said he’s been at it for years, it’s only natural for him to be huge

some who say he inspired them to engage in activism

That’s good, he gets a point for that, I’m not a mindless hater. I genuinely hope his fans put their energy to good things instead praying to the Dems to magic out communism out of their sleeves next election, like some do.

It must be Hasan that is holding back Hexbear’s growth?

I literally never said that, please stop.

There are even many people in Hasan’s community who criticize him.

I stopped watching largely because he never bothers to correct his mistakes, he’s very open about his faults but, like he says, he has an “addictive personality” he doesn’t like to admit he’s wrong, you can’t tell me that’s not true, he belittles people who raise genuine concerns (see: Platner situation). Some deserve it, others don’t, it’s fucked up when he lumps the two groups together.

Again, just like he says when he is questioned by chatters about why pundits (like Shapiro for example) do what they do, he explains: trying to find out the precise reasoning behind their actions is a waste of energy, the output they generate is what matters.

So be it, I’ll go off that, he knows he has handled things poorly at times or he has blind spots (everyone does), but he doesn’t do much to change that, he just carries on and acknowledges he’s imperfect instead of trying to better himself only slightly, I’m not asking for miracles I just hate seeing him do that over and over again, I’m in other communities where this exact point has been brought up many times, nothing has changed.

The media is obsessed with Hasan, it mirrors the obsession chud youtubers have with him.

It’s kind of terrifying in a way, because someone as irrelevant as Hasan (in terms of actual power) being blasted on the 24/7 news cycle really shows how scared they are when someone shows the slightest amount of leftism and disagreement with liberalism/capitalism.

Yea, I think they view him as the reason that people are pro Palestine/ anti Israel now. They are completely wrong of course, but that’s what great man theory does to liberals.

This is a good point. Liberals can only comprehend domestic opposition to the US (or the “West” more broadly) under a framework of social contagion. They are doomed to reverse the cause and effect eternally. Hasan is one prominent example, but this is the case in general. Before Hasan was in the spotlight, widespread hatred of “Israel” was TikTok’s fault. Or going further back, it couldn’t be that the public broadly rejected Hillary Clinton, it had to be Russian bots on Facebook. The public is never allowed to be correct in their judgement of things like “genocide is abhorrent,” or “we need to disarm and dismantle the fucking pigs,” or “Brian Thompson deserved it.” The explanation always has to be that the public is immature, or it’s being tricked. The cause must always be externalized to some “outside agitator.” Why else would the humble slaves raise their scythes in anger against their benevolent masters?

From the Liberal point of view, the institutions are tautologically legitimate. They can never fail. They can only be failed by substandard leadership. They are fundamentally incapable of separating concepts like “democracy” from their idols, the US and “Israel.” They cannot possibly comprehend why the destruction of the US and “Israel” are prerequisites to justice, democracy, civil liberty, academic freedom, cultural inclusivity, world peace, and all the other great things Liberals generally believe in abstract.

It’s terrifying (because any of us would get the same [worse?] treatment if we had any prominence or led an effective org/movement), but it heartening to see that it isn’t really working at all. The liberal base is ready to roll right over their own party/media establishment if that’s what it takes to get rid of the Republicans.

There’s a whole lot of leftward momentum that’s going to emerge in the 2030’s, even though it isnt really revolutionary in nature. This is not a bad thing.

I think there is more revolutionary sentiment than people realize, I’ve seen average libs calling for “impeaching every Republican” and cheering on Iranian strikes on Amazon’s facilities, the Mangione fans, etc. They talk about “getting money out of politics” but probably the only way that would be possible would be through a socialist revolution. I do feel heartened by people’s attitude lately, though I’m in a bit less racist area than a lot of the US.

I think there is anti-imperialist sentiment, and even genuinely socialist sentiment for sure. I guess I’m being literal in that i dont think Americans in general have the appetite for the kind of violence that comes with a literal revolution. Curious if it is more than a terminology difference between you and I, though.

My vibe is that historically socialist revolutions have happened at the imperial fringe among populations living under brutal conditions. The imperial core will have its own path, but getting the empire to be even somewhat less hungry to genocide the global south will dramatically change the conditions for our comrades in those countries.

I guess I’m being literal in that i dont think Americans in general have the appetite for the kind of violence that comes with a literal revolution.

I agree, but I think this is typically the case. Good people characteristically aren’t looking for an excuse to commit gratuitous acts of violence. Revolutionary violence usually takes the form of self defense, rather than a spontaneous righteous crusade against the status quo. Consider Minneapolis in 2020. After Derek Chauvin executed George Floyd on camera, people did the “proper” Liberal thing and assembled non-violently to pressure the government to bring criminal charges. For three days, they were surveilled and assaulted with batons and mace and “less lethal” munitions. Without this egregious overreaction from the state, the situation would have never advanced to the point of acute physical skirmishes between activists and police departments reinforced by the National Guard across the country. Within the span of a few short weeks, the situation transformed from the uneasy calm of the Covid quarantine, to the largest domestic uprising seen since the assassination of MLK. The largest Millennials have ever seen in their lifetime, anyway.

This is the pattern I expect to continue playing out. The government is losing its finesse and is reacting with brutality to political forces it was once comfortable ignoring completely. More recently, the crackdown against anti-genocide protesters on college campuses has been another example. Another case of tens of thousands of people applying the “proper” Liberal methods, non-violence, free speech, assembly, and being attacked with lawfare, expulsion, surveillance, SWAT teams, skirmishes with vigilante mobs, chemical weapons, imprisonment, and deportation. While this didn’t advance to the same level of acute crisis, it did transform a handful of largely academic and self-gratifying (for lack of a better term) encampments confined to university grounds into a continuous series of national headlines and much more mobile and chaotic wave of demonstrations.

We saw this again with the skirmishes between anti-ICE activists and “Operation Metro Surge.” We’re still not at the point where we’re just wasting pigs in the street, but acute physical confrontations between the state and the public are becoming much more regular. People are getting killed in these skirmishes. Doctors and mothers. We are already catching visceral glimpses of the battle to come.

We’re far away from having a people’s army, but I think people in general are much more prepared for a rapid pivot to “Plan B” than they were 10 or 20 years ago. The fantasy that any of our problems can be fixed with a march on Congress is thoroughly dead. There is a unanimous inevitability to it. It is only unclear what will be the spark. Which will be the situation that gets totally out of hand?

It likely will fizzle a bit, however this time feels like a repeat of Biden’s election in 2020. In particular it depends on who runs. Is it going to be Kamala again or a similar joke of so-called democracy? There are cracks forming ever since Biden’s handling of COVID and his support of the genocide which has been unpopular all the way through his term.

How much it fizzles might depend on how effectively the Left proves the case for the bourgeois solidarity held between the Dems and Reps. Once it becomes common sentiment that it’s not only Trump but the entire bipartisan group, there will no longer be a scapegoat and it will be hard to contain working class anger.

True, like I’ve said before liberals are pissed to a completely new level because they trusted the plan and voted Biden, voted Kamala, and ended up with Trump (but even worse).

I think that given all that, AOC has a solid (unlikely, but very possible) shot at a presidential run in '28. It’ll be interesting to see what could come out of that situation. Could it be an FDR “stabilize capitalism during it’s worst crisis” sort of thing?

The revolutionary sentiment should exist within the leftist parties for a successful revolution to happen. But leftists who are organizing have learned not to call for a revolution because it will get their org and its leaders targeted by the state.

I wouldnt say its because they are scared of someone who holds leftist values, but that they need a leftist boogeyman who is somewhat well known to rile up their base. It is genuinely amazing how this complete bullshit that only a few coterie of lib and fascist propagandists care about could turn into manufactured outrage that is so completely hollow and yet big enough that Trump is actually discussing Hasan by name rather than just vaguely alluding to the 9/11 thing like he did before.

It’s /r/LiveStreamFail. It’s one of the top subreddits on reddit. It pretends to be a subreddit which shows “fails”, ie clips of unfortunate events happening on live streams.

However LSF was being secretly moderated by one of Destiny’s moderators named ‘Stale2000’. The mods of the subreddit would boost clips that were negative towards Hasan and remove clips which were positive towards Hasan.

lol I will take your word for it. I’ve had enough psychic damage for one day from that story about the mother and son charged with incest in florida.

For all the issues one might have with Hasan, I think there are lessons to be learned from his competence at optics. He comes with a 21st century attitude ready that fairly effectively counters 21st century propaganda.

CNN yesterday was talking about “How crazy it was that he said the USA is a bigger terrorist threat than Al-Qaeda” and not even engaging with what he said

Just an automatic assumption that he’s wrong

As a podcast once said, the atomic unit of propaganda is not lies, but emphasis. Direct people away from the question and why he said it and just focus on the idea of the claim being offensive.

That’s what makes the best propaganda. You don’t argue your point trying to convince people you’re right, you assume your position is already correct and accepted & move forward from there

Something in what you said just made it click why it is so hard to argue with liberals.

I provide actual reasoning and facts and explanations as to why their beliefs are wrong. And they can moralize about the mode in which I express that and then just declare things as “legitimate”, " law", “terrorist”, etc

And it’s easy for them to fall into that pattern when the grand majority of (western) popular culture and politics operate that way. Liberalism is the default, treated almost like a natural constant. As much as I despise marvel slop they are dominant in western culture and so a great example. Like half the villains have a legitimate grievance that they address in a direct manner (though in a mustache-twirling evil way) that the “hero” stops because the status quo is obviously correct and the villian is obviously wrong for trying to change anything.

Back panther & killmonger (his fucking name come on) immediately springs to mind. Dude is trying to spread anti-colonial struggle and fight back against the Great Satan while the literal hereditary monarch who’s also a special ubermensch (superheros are inherently fascist but I’m preaching to the choir) has to beat him with help from the CIA (lmfao) because of course killmonger isn’t following norms or whatever

And pop culture made sure to push Black Panther (again what a name for a reactionary figure) as the aspirations black representation. Keep fighting to keep that status quo tho

I’m no Hasan fanboy but I honestly think the dude need to GTFO America. The rights fixation on him is either gonna end with him in CECOT or some random CHUD trying to firebomb his house.

Go live with the BoyBoy dudes for a few years, you seem to get along with them.

      • don’t be so sure, there’s this ukkkraine obsessed ameriKKKan boomer lib radio host I hate-listen to sometimes who calls anyone who doesn’t support his favorite proxy war a tankie

he also was a biden-alert dead ender even after his brain exploded live during the debate and only stopped when jokermala got the nomination because he’s ultimately a spineless the-democrat paty loyalist but he will still defend biden-the-thing to this day and brings him up unprompted

he calls himself progressive but has displayed a pattern of deference to the establishment except when his audience starts actually pushing back at which point he may shift position slightly but it’s mostly an empty rhetorical shift

perfect example is Palestine, he remained almost completely silent about the genocide until after Trump was back in office so he could blame him and not admit any fault for his blind loyalty to Genocide Joe

another troubling pattern I’ve noticed is his lack of support for Muslim candidates and his inability to call out Islamophobia within his own party

been meaning to make a big effort post about him for almost a year now with the goal of getting a big campaign going to call in en mass to his show and call him out with receipts in a way that hopefully turns his mostly well meaning boomer lib audience against him while radicalizing them but I got delayed and then my computer broke but I may just make a half assed post about him anyway

one last thing, somehow this russiagate boomer is directly next to Hasan on that shitty political media bias chart from a month or 2 ago

Nowadays every time conservatives disparage people with accusations of “communism”, they inadvertently make communism seem cooler not only because it “triggers” them, but also because they’re such bloodthirsty and psychosexually stunted dweebs that whatever they don’t like is cool by default. This is naturally quite fine by me but I think there’s gonna be a lot of disappointed youths when they find out about all the reading and how boring it is when things work well after an admittedly exciting lifetime of going from crisis to crisis.

Where is the party in opposition that has not been decried as communistic by its opponents in power? Where is the opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of communism, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?

Two things result from this fact:

      I. Communism is already acknowledged by all European powers to be itself a power.

II. It is high time that Communists should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the Spectre of Communism with a manifesto of the party itself.
