You’re describing the opposite of what my intended purpose is. I want the comm to exist so that more people can see things that are posted on the comm. Also I want other people to participate.

Imagine you get a new bicycle and you think “I’ll ride this bicycle around town and other people will think it’s cool and maybe even I could find some other people who also have bicycles and we can ride around together.”

Then someone tells you “If you ride the bicycle outside, it will get dirty. Also if other people see you riding that bicycle, they might mock you or try to attack you. It would be better if you kept your bicycle inside your house forever, so that it stays clean and doesn’t get stolen.”

I could sit on a bicycle inside of my house but then it’s more of an uncomfortable chair than a bicycle at that point.

Maybe a couple people will try to vandalize the comm and get banned. I optimistically hope that doesn’t happen. LemmyWorld is already defederated, so I’m not that worried.

I don’t even expect every user who posts on the comm to like DPRK. I only hope that people keep an open mind and follow all of the hexbear rules.

I have a positive view of DPRK and I have seen some things posted on DPRK sites that I didn’t agree with. That’s okay. Nobody has to agree 100% with DPRK. I want the comm to be about observing the DPRK perspective.

These posts are examples of interesting things that I found on DPRK websites, interesting to me at least. The purpose of the comm is for users to post things from DPRK websites that are interesting to them. I think other users could find interesting things that I may have missed or not understood.

The DPRK website list has a broad range categories. There’s a recipe website, an architecture website, an ebook website with juche theory books, an animation website with DPRK animated videos, and more.

Also, the korean language website of the websites sometimes have additional pages not available in the english version. You might have to use the browser translate function.

Who would post on this comm? I would. I’ve made tons of posts in the past linking to DPRK websites. Anyone else who browses DPRK websites is welcome to post the .kp links onto the comm as well.

Why does hexbear need another comm? Other comms allow western perspectives of DPRK to be posted. This comm would limited to posting the DPRK perspective. DPRK websites have articles about stuff happening in the DPRK, but also some of the website have commentary on international news. Rodong Sinmun has daily articles about stuff that the US does and the rest of the world.

Users would be welcome to comment whatever they like, but posts should be based on DPRK websites.

Additionally, DPRK has shown rapid development over the past couple years. On June 18 2024, DPRK signed a trade agreement with Russia, which I believe gave DPRK expanded access to new technologies.

KCNA doesn’t work with HTTPS. It loads for me in the US with HTTP. KCNA recently did a UI rework on the website, so it looks slightly newer. KCNA publishes new articles at 6 PM eastern time each day. Sometimes they publish the articles in Korean before English, but I think KCNA translates every article within 24 hours.

Rodong Sinmun is also very interesting. It is the WPK newspaper, Set the language to Korean on Rodong Sinmun because it has a bunch extra articles in Korean only. You click on the calendar button and pick a date. Then it gives you all the articles for that date. It categorizes the articles into pages. Page 6 has international news, they’ll have like DPRK’s commentary on US events, Iran War, genocide in Gaza, etc.

I read KCNA pretty frequently. It’s the main state-owned news agency of DPRK. They’ve had many articles about their involvement in the Ukraine war. Most of the articles have been about a museum that DPRK built to remember the deployment of the DPRK soldiers to the Kursk region of Russia.

In the articles that I’ve seen published by KCNA, DPRK has said that they only deployed troops to Russian territory, specifically the Kursk region. DPRK said that they would not deploy troops into Ukraine, basically because DPRK doesn’t want to get involved in the war.

The article in the OP is a Ukrainian website. There is a Ukraine government agency called “United24”. I’m not sure if the “united24media” is government owned as well or if they just used the same name. Either way, it is Ukraine that is making the allegations about “North Korean Missile Unit”. The article says “a Ukrainian military intelligence official told Reuters on August 5”.

I view the DPRK troop deployment to Kursk as part of the trade agreement that was formed between Russia and DPRK, which was signed in the summer of 2024. Russia helped DPRK get access to a bunch of new technologies. The feeling that I got from the reporting from DPRK is that they did not want to get involved in the war.

With Ukraine making the allegations about DPRK missiles, it seems like fearmongering. I won’t believe it unless it is reported by DPRK, or maybe Russia, or if there is photographic evidence. I would not be surprised if DPRK sold weapons to Russia, but I don’t think DPRK wants to attack Ukraine.

Also in October 2025, CBS 60 minutes released a segment promoting Doctor Peter Attia. The segment was about anti-aging treatments. Peter Attia was Epstein’s personal doctor. The doctor of the pedophile is obsessed with stopping aging. Really makes you think. CBS removed the Peter Attia segment, after it aired, because there were new Epstein emails released which showed Epstein had emailed Peter Attia about performing sexual acts on children.

Today is day 9 of Path of Exile 3.29. The 3.29 expansion introduce a new character type (Luminary) that can hire mercenary NPCs to fight alongside you, like in diablo 2.
