Remove if this isn’t top-comment-worthy, of course, but I found it to be a good analysis of what Zohran Mamdani has and (mostly) hasn’t done, and the reaction of the so-called USian “left” in criticizing or (mostly) defending him. There’s some juicy bits about the neoliberal and fascist programs he’s continued, that some folks may not be aware of (the bits that might make it news-worthy). Examples:

• Continued privatization of existing NYC public housing.
• Apparently dropping the “affordable” from the building of new housing (this one might be iffy, based on the lack of evidence provided in the article).
• Dropping the extremely low-hanging fruit of renewed library funding.
• Hiring more cops and increasing their budget.
• Failure to go anywhere near taxing the wealthy (the pied-à-terre tax is a big, fat nothing-burger that’ll disappear right into the budget hole like it never even existed).
• Actually somehow doing worse than De Blasio on childcare.
