These rallies were happening regardless, you can take that opportunity to connect people that have a sentiment against the status quo and help lead them into a socialist cause rather then let them be corralled by the corporate dems that co-opt every movement. It’s definitely better on the ground, the online optics are heavily astroturfed. In my area it wasn’t all red white and blue and there were Palestine flags and true leftist energy, definitely still a bit libby but I think jack is right that these types of rallies have good potential because there is radical energy in many people, many have seen over and over how even the dems are enemies to true progress, and there are many in orgs working to counter the corpo co-opting.

Ah right, I forgot two people were shot at that incident, one killed. That was where it was my suspicion that private security connected to businesses or the city was involved. A few people that posed as protesters but were hired by the city/some org to co-opt the protest were seen cleaning the scene and talking to police-aligned private security the next morning at the location of the shooting, police didn’t show up til hours after and never investigated.

It was that shooting that they used as impetus to shut down the zone, separately there was also a random parked car firebombed in a very suspicious manner on the same block some night soon after.

The person in black that was shot was present at several protests in SLC armed, a known leftist, I guess I can’t say for certain but it’s highly doubtful he was there to do a mass shooting. I have seen many people that looked exactly like the guy in black holding rifles at numerous protests since 2020. Though yeah I understand how someone would be afraid, but the ‘security’ did not seem properly trained for this and I would guess will get some kind of involuntary manslaughter charge, if anyone gets charged in the end.

One thing I’ve been seeing commented on reddit is the idea that he ran toward the crowd and so the shooting was justified, it’s hard to tell from this video the exact timing because of the distance but he appears to run after being shot. I’ve seen this reported by others as well, not sure if that’s based on this video or actual witnesses. Police stated they are investigating the shooter and may bring charges against him.

My recollection of that time is this, someone correct me if they have more details:

One of the people killed was in an altercation which was not related to the protest or in the actual zone, the other person was killed overnight when the group who had been known as protest security, Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club, were not present and there was essentially no action going on, no other claimed ‘event security’ was present. No suspect was ever made public in the second shooting that I saw, private security hired by businesses were there though and it’s my theory they were connected to that shooting. Overall though during that time there were as many shootings as average for the neighborhood.

I just wanted to say this because I’ve been seeing people connect this shooting to CHAZ but the situation is much different from what I’ve seen.

It seems Gamboa never fired a weapon, he ran as soon as he was shot and tried to blend in with the crowd. I haven’t seen or heard anything that implies Gamboa ever shot or aimed his rifle aside from the first reports which were put out by the detectives and 50501, which I don’t believe we can’t trust.

The person shot had been at protests armed before, if security was actually familiar with leftist protesters they wouldn’t have been so quick to judge.

From footage and other reports I’ve seen this is like a police shooting and the first reports seem to be designed to absolve blame of the security at the event. He didn’t run until after the “peacekeepers” shot him, he didn’t appear to raise his rifle. People are saying “he’s obviously the guilty one because he was trying to hide!” It was immediately afterwards, of course he would hide with the protesters, he was one of them and they thought they were being shot by a chud or cop probably.

I bet we’ll see some more footage come out soon, there must have been security cameras or something else that caught it besides the one super brief clip I’ve seen.

The volunteer “peacekeepers” with clearly no training for this situation hold the most blame from what I’ve seen. According to what I could surmise from reports and photos, they shot at a leftist who was non-threateningly carrying a rifle, in an open carry state where protesters have been openly armed a number of times, before even saying anything to him or warning anyone. He was in all black with a balaclava so I understand why they were afraid, really the blame more falls on whoever let them be “security” for such an event that definitely would have had threats against it from chuds.

A Battered Iran Signals It Wants to De-Escalate Hostilities With Israel and Negotiate

DUBAI—Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the U.S. via Arab intermediaries, Middle Eastern and European officials said.

They also passed messages to Israel saying it is in the interest of both sides to keep the violence contained.

Wall Street Journal is part of the West’s propaganda machine, so of course this is framed as “Iran is getting pummeled and wants out.” Israel says they won’t stop until Iran’s nuclear program is destroyed, and says regime change is not off the table, so it seems likely that Israel won’t stop until regime change. Israeli propaganda sees Iran as an existential threat to Israel and Jewish people in general so this would be the logical course now that they are in full war.

US has been manufacturing consent for a war against Iran for years, it seems inevitable that they will come to aid Israel more directly if the situation becomes dire for them. Active participation like Iraq or Afghanistan is widely opposed, but even among more ‘left’ libs in the US there is a belief that the Iranian regime is a theocratic dictatorship, and so they see it as a good thing for it to be removed even if they recoginze the genocidal nature of Israel.
