Most people apparently. I’ve noticed a pretty significant difference in how I get treated by people when I’m wearing a suit vs casual wear.
I honestly and truly hear the voice of Ricky from trailer park boys saying “fuckin’ suit dummy with your word papers” in my mind every time i see someone in person with a suit on.
Im really not trying to start an argument with you. BUT there are a lot of situations, like work, events, funerals, weddings, etc., that might require suits, regardless of whether the person “wants” to wear a suit. So I don’t really think judging someone based on something like that makes sense, even if you don’t like suits.

I know suit culture is different in a lot of places but wearing a suit to work is exclusive to executive level people here so I’m fine with judging them
I can’t think of another event where someone who doesn’t want to wear a suit has to wear one? I guess if there are wait staff at some rich person party with a dress code? I think the server tuxedo thing is different though

I mean regular ass office jobs where youre still just an ordinary worker, even if you make a decent salary. Though I suppose modern American office culture might be more relaxed about that.
I know you´re trying to make the point that you don’t like rich people. I just want to point out that plenty of everyday people wear suits for completely normal reasons. And not to flex their wealth.

Can’t speak for America from personal experience, but office attire in Europe has shifted a lot over the last 10-15 years outside of the finance sector. Obviously depends on the workplace, there’s always some small business tyrant who runs his firm as if it’s 1956, but if you show up with a tie in fields like media, it can actually come off as overdressed. So that things are becoming less obviously formal doesn’t mean they become less restrictive. When the dresscode is “smart casual”, you’re still expected to meet some standard of respectability, it is just more nebulous what that standard even is nowadays.

It’s not that I’m trying to say i hate rich people. I’m saying the wearing of a suit, in my general experience, is meant only to convey status. Aside from going to a wedding or funeral, i suppose, though to be honest I’ve been to many of both and i think just for one wedding the majority of people had on suits/tuxedos. It’s just not really a thing for people to wear them in my world
I mean, people work fucking hard. You want to be taken seriously by the people around you both at work and in life. That means dressing appropriately for the occasion. I know it shouldnt matter, but it does in some fields.
I dont wear suits just for fun either. (I wish I had the money to wear suits just for fun, and I’d be happy to be judged by you for it.) But I don’t.
It’s fine, though. We probably just see this issue differently and I frankly don’t think it matters in the grand scheme of things. So I just hope you have a good day or night, wherever you are.

I don’t know what stubbies are but sounds good to me. People wore costumes at my wedding
Stubbies are work shorts with an ~1" inseam. I spent much of my late teens and early twenties wearing them because honestly the freedom is unmatched. At least when it’s warm enough.
The hardest thing to get used to when i went from warehouse work to construction work:

Fascists over here also prefer blue suits. If a nazi is the suit wearing kind and can’t afford the batman villain nonsense that Jojo Peepeeterson is wearing nowadays, they really dig the blue. And it’s always two sizes too small so it performatively shows off how not fat they are and that their socks are boring and certified not gay and that they don’t shave their legs because when they sit down the hem of the legs is running up to the middle of their shins. ISTG none of these losers know how to find a suit that fits and that’s in spite of formal menswear purposefully being the most basic, easily memorizable shit ever.
Back before i transitioned, i actually kind of liked suits because they are so comically masc coded that it becomes butch again. Kind of like Ralsei and the butler outfit that is contextual!
But i never even thought about getting a blue suit. I always stuck to black or to colors that made me look like a budget Harry DuBois, which was fitting because i was really magging it up back then

Every single time I go to a new org it’s the same. I walk in and everyone tenses up. Obligatory butch or tall non-binary comes over to talk to me in a vaguely polite but warning tone. Then my more obviously left-looking friends comes over to introduce me and everyone immediately relaxes. “Why don’t you want to connect with your community more?” I wonder why.
