The major opinion on the left is that if you present masc and somewhat formal or preppy then you are evil. This in unironically a common sentiment.
Every single time I go to a new org it’s the same. I walk in and everyone tenses up. Obligatory butch or tall non-binary comes over to talk to me in a vaguely polite but warning tone. Then my more obviously left-looking friends comes over to introduce me and everyone immediately relaxes. “Why don’t you want to connect with your community more?” I wonder why.
