I kid, I don’t mind stuggle sessions actually. Sometimes they help us work out out dumb shit.

For anyone curious what the cat thing was, it wasn’t a big deal, we just had a funny semi-serious struggle session about whether people who hate cats are sus.

I still have yet to be proven people in blue suits aren’t asshole’s though! Every single one has either been something like a slimey insurance guy or a real estate agent!

    I didn’t think it needed qualifying but no I’m not walking by a wedding party or funeral going “look at these assholes”

    I know suit culture is different in a lot of places but wearing a suit to work is exclusive to executive level people here so I’m fine with judging them

    I can’t think of another event where someone who doesn’t want to wear a suit has to wear one? I guess if there are wait staff at some rich person party with a dress code? I think the server tuxedo thing is different though

      There are absolutely workplaces where wearing a suit isn’t officially enforced, but is still expected, and Im not talking about executive-level positions. I mean regular ass office jobs where youre still just an ordinary worker, even if you make a decent salary. Though I suppose modern American office culture might be more relaxed about that.

      I know you´re trying to make the point that you don’t like rich people. I just want to point out that plenty of everyday people wear suits for completely normal reasons. And not to flex their wealth.

      EDIT: For example, I wear suits for official events at my company. This only happens a couple of times a year, and I make less than 50k a year.

        Can’t speak for America from personal experience, but office attire in Europe has shifted a lot over the last 10-15 years outside of the finance sector. Obviously depends on the workplace, there’s always some small business tyrant who runs his firm as if it’s 1956, but if you show up with a tie in fields like media, it can actually come off as overdressed. So that things are becoming less obviously formal doesn’t mean they become less restrictive. When the dresscode is “smart casual”, you’re still expected to meet some standard of respectability, it is just more nebulous what that standard even is nowadays.

        I know east coast americans are more likely to be told to wear suits at work but I don’t live over there.

        It’s not that I’m trying to say i hate rich people. I’m saying the wearing of a suit, in my general experience, is meant only to convey status. Aside from going to a wedding or funeral, i suppose, though to be honest I’ve been to many of both and i think just for one wedding the majority of people had on suits/tuxedos. It’s just not really a thing for people to wear them in my world

          I mean, people work fucking hard. You want to be taken seriously by the people around you both at work and in life. That means dressing appropriately for the occasion. I know it shouldnt matter, but it does in some fields.

          I dont wear suits just for fun either. (I wish I had the money to wear suits just for fun, and I’d be happy to be judged by you for it.) But I don’t.

          It’s fine, though. We probably just see this issue differently and I frankly don’t think it matters in the grand scheme of things. So I just hope you have a good day or night, wherever you are.
