Can we please just fucking render a frame and then put it on the screen like normal? Why do I have to see these slop and smear filters in every damn game?
We mostly can not.
We moved on to deferred rendering, which absolutely messed up our ability to use transparencies. Hair, grass, water effects, smoke, everything now must be dithered and flicker between frames then get reconstructed with those temporal filters.
Of course, this doesn’t mean we need to use the AI nightmare filter shown, but indeed, we do need filters and weird interframe blending tricks.

Yeah like I don’t understand what is the point of ai putting a filter over crap when we have 3 grand video cards that can raytrace and models sculpted in zbrush and maya.

Semi related: I hate how Tifa is this interesting character who is straight up one of most heroic and self sacrificing characters and how shes a total patient and caring bro to Cloud and watches over him while he’s clearly not in his right mind, but all anyone ever talks about with her character is “Hehe shes a hot boobie lady”
Tetsuya Nomura put the honkers on her then the writers were like “think again she’s actually based”.
I mean, theres nothing wrong with the honkers, of course, big boobie girls need representation too. I just wish people talked about her whole character instead of just her looks. She’s so damn cool to Cloud and I don’t think she gets enough credit for it.

agreed, i think her characterization in the remake series is super amazing (never played the originals)
Shes a really strong character with such a well developed psyche, her and Barrett are honestly my faves by far (special shoutout to wedge for being a cat lover)
I love how much personality the remake gave Biggs, Jessie and Wedge.
