I like the way it’s implemented in Rimworld especially with the bugs. Many animals will retaliate when you try to tame them. Bugs will just incessantly attack you right away but you can still tame them if your pawn has sufficient skills and can doge and tank enough hits.
Mmmm, me too. I love the Rimworld taming system. (Did you know, if you can down a revenging animal without killing it, you can tend to its wounds, it might magically bond with the doctor and self tame, and failing that, now the animal is trapped in your animal hospital or your barn and you can try again?) You can make anything your pet, assuming you have someone with the skills and you get good luck. I frequently tame bears just because I think Rimworld bears are adorable, not necessarily because they’re useful. (Have you seen the Animal Cuddling mod? It can be adjusted so your pawns will hug, and be approached for hugs by, literally anything in your menagerie of pets, but by default it already lets you hug a lot of odd critters because it’s based on relative body size. It’s adorable.)

I think they nerfed the taming by healing at some point because I remember it being incredibly effective with larger animals, and you’d get a thrumbo on the first try almost every time.
I love that they added so many more animals with Odyssey, love just having a swarm of crows.
