Dear literally everyone but me apparently: why are we putting dirty dishes IN the sink? I like to use the sink. Put them NEXT to the sink.

Put a garbage disposal in the tub’s drain and you don’t have to scrape off the dishes.

You name correct. The sink is for cleaning the dishes and not for leaving them. Soaking is a lie you yell yourself. Fucking scrub thst shit when it’s still hot off the burner if its a pan and itll come off easy. Clean as you go. Soaking dishes is the religion of the bad roomate. Dont live in a fools paradise, youll just have wet food water to deal with if you soak. Cause youre gonna let it soak overnight at least, you know you aren’t coming back to it. Handle it in the moment

Burnt on stuff absolutely requires a soak though.

If you’re making a soup, yeah rinse that shit off right away. But if you got some burnt tomato, you’ll be scrubbing for days unless you let it soak.

Im a sous chef now, but I worked dish long enough to despise those who scorch their pots and pans. If things are starting to burn, deglaze it and tske it off the burner, the food will keep cooking from the residual heat. I do like s little char left on stuff like roasted red peppers, charred onions and garlic are amazing, there are uses to burning food a bit. I love when s ginger cookie is just a bit burned on the bottom

Im vegan and hacent had to cook eggs professionally for a while but while I would say stop eating eggs mostly. If I had to guess you’re either going on too high a heat or not using enough oil. Heat the pan up hard and then turn the heat off when the egg hits and let the residual heat do the work. Take it off the still hot burner post flip and let the other partially cooked side finish via pan heat. Remembering things keep cooking after they’re taken away form the heat sources just useful in general. Please dont take too much consideration into what is an absolutely dead end gig, its a 2 year course which is mostly based around the management side of things, food costing etc. I know my way around food from my own interest as well as hsving a lot of time at work to mess around. But for eggs the restaurant solution is like… so much oil. We shallow fry those things to minimize the risk

The sink is still usable for sink things if you put the dishes in them, the counter is not.

While cooking, the sink is empty for sink things.

After eating, the dishes are washed.

There is no point at which dirty dishes need to go on the counter. They’re only in the sink for like 30 seconds before you start washing them

You clearly live with people who dont leave their dirty dishes in the sink for days on end. If someone isnt going to do their dishes, yeah I’d rather they leave them next to the sink so I can do my damn dishes after I cook.
