It also doesn’t make sense to apply this to the US because even private healthcare is notoriously shit for trans people. Furthermore I doubt the UK’s private health industry is somehow full of fewer TERFs than the NHS.

Dude even in the UK they can just get free blood tests done and do DIY even if they are against trans health. Thats already far cheaper than the USA, as the blood tests are a very big cost.

It’s definitely a thing. They have the right to refuse to do your blood work if you’re not using an NHS gender clinic, but since the waiting list on those are at, what, 30 years or something now? A lot of UK trans people go private or DYI, and a lot more doctors are using that right
It’s not all doctors obviously, I don’t even know if it’s a majority. But it’s a lot, and it’s getting worse especially for young trans people.
I’ve seen quite a lot of British trans people complain that their GP has suddenly stopped shared care with their GIC too, and are now struggling to find one that’s willing to help them.
