This meme (or something like it with the same misogynist tone) was shared in our teacher group chat last year while one of our coworkers was out on maternity leave. Her response, “I planned my maternity leave to end the same day as the beginning of summer break. And I’ll do it again.” I see nothing wrong with her plan.

for reddit theres mostly just transgendercirclejerk. all the other spaces are either super sexual (not necessarily bad, but the online horny posters are mostly terminally online and often early transition) or 4chan (not obviously bad by default, but comes with transmed worms that they claim arent transmedicalism)
i just wouldnt touch trans reddit tbh. bluesky is hostile to trans women but not to the same extent as other platforms and the culture is a lot more chill than anywhere else online. unfortunately, the high abundance of libs, strong block button, and weak right wing presence makes it the best place for trans women online.
I remember in the 00’s or maybe even late 90’s being at family functions this one cousin and his dad would frequently bring up working women getting pregnant like it was a BFD and the worst oppression of the sMaLl BuSiNeSs owners who employed them. What an odd thing to focus on.

A manager where I was working only got like 4 or 6 weeks leave when his wife gave birth prematurely, that is not enough time for paternity leave period let alone after something like that! And then right back in to the daily grind. And I bet many USians don’t even get that.
Most US companies offer exactly 0 days of paternity leave, and there is no legal requirement to give any.
Only half a year, she and the baby deserves a whole year of paid maternity leave!
it would also be less disruptive for students. some of my worst classes were the ones where the teacher had some ongoing major life issue and consistently couldn’t be there, and taking a whole year off to do a pregnancy or FMLA for their chronically sick kid or not trying to work while dying would’ve been better for everybody.
also we should just have two instructors for every class so there’s a backup.
