its crazy how i would call myself a Gamer but I have no idea who either of these weirdos are…different worlds truly.

I only know Billy from the documentary about Donkey Kong which is a fun watch. He sucks ass
dude is pure chud
did he say it’s cheating and not that jobst said he’s responsible for someone’s suicide?
Karl Jobst is a massive reactionary who lied about the lawsuit and very much did defame Mitchell by claiming he directly contributed to someone’s suicide. Jobst is currently suing him again with some AI generated bullshit.
karl v mitchell is some real

but i guess karl is going for round two after losing the first one? idk what he could hope to gain mitchell won the last one by conclusively proving that jobst lied about some pretty significant facts and accused Mitchell of some really dark shit. what’s karl going to do, claim that losing the lawsuit hurt his reputation?
It’s completely sensible to infer the lawsuit contributed to their suicide. Jobst got sued because he falsely claimed that it was settlement payments specifically which burdened them, when the settlement didn’t include any.
Who knows, I just tuned in for the drama about the different colored joystick clearly proving he didn’t use a stock machine. Mitchell is a wounded narcissist. His discount code is KARL LOST which he didn’t. Mitchell couldn’t even fund all these lawsuits except he has family money from the hot sauce business. He does have gorgeous hair, though.
Twin Galaxies rules are actually insanely stupid anyway. Parts are exchanged on arcade cabinets all the time, who fucking cares if the ball top is a different color other than these deranged old boomers. It’s all the same ROM inside.
Edit: Not a Billy Mitchell defender just a TG hater
The whole thing is it has to be on stock hardware. The different color joystick meant it was a different ROM. PS Baby boomers had mechanical arcade games, like shooting ducks. Generation X was the video arcade generation. Up until non-games like Dance Dance Revolution started, then that was it for arcade culture.
Never played DDR for more than 5 minutes on the easiest difficulty award
Arcade culture is alive and well in Asia at least
Really? I remember the first time I went to Japan, they had people playing what are now called rhythm games, the screen showing patters and people pressing the buttons to match. I thought that couldn’t possibly even be called a game. I pitied the poor players, how empty they must be to try something like that. It had about as much chance of catching on as the crab machine. It’ll never catch on in the west, I said to myself before putting the whole thing out of my mind.
Imagine my shock when 5-6 years later they started appearing everywhere.
Are you trolling me because rhythm games are very much games
The most fun fucking game i’ve ever played in my fucking life was a Fist of the North Star rhythm game where these pads come out and you punch them in time with the rhythm
But i guess it fucking breaks all the time and the one arcade that had it got rid of it
How is pressing a button when you see a light a “game”? It’s like something NASA would use to test astronaut reaction times.
His discount code is KARL LOST which he didn’t.
…he literally did, though. The judge absolutely ruled in Mitchell’s favour and read jobst the riot act. I remember it because it is a seriously impressive act of douchebaggery to come out of a lawsuit with Billy Mitchell looking like the bad guy. Jobst is at least as much of a piece of shit as Mitchell, the leaks from his discord where he and his mods were being insanely racist are pretty damning. He also iirc is close friends with an open white nationalist and has run interference for the guy. I love the idea of Mitchell eating shit as much as the next guy but it is just factually true that he won the lawsuit against jobst.
Am I missing something here?

In that video he explains basically hes a broke YouTuber and doesn’t have $350k so Billy Mitchell just ends up with a lawyer bill and no actual money even though he won the case.
Also Jobst declared bankruptcy and transferred most of his assets to his wife
I enjoyed Karl’s video about doom speedrunning, I honestly don’t really care about the drama. If Mitchell is fun to listen to, I could watch his stuff too.
He isn’t. Dude is a notorious piece of shit. Like there is a documentary called The King of Kong which is mainly about a guy trying to break the Donkey Kong arcade record held by Billy Mitchell but is really about how much of a sleazy piece of shit Billy Mitchell is (if his lawyers are reading, this is my opinion). He was a guy of some repute on the 80s for setting arcade high score records, some in the 80s may have been real, but some are confirmed fake. He faked his records on Donkey Kong as well as his other arcade high scores at least when they began being contested and had an inside man with Twin Galaxies Arcade which was the official arcade that you had to play at to get an official high score for machine tampering reasons who helped him fake world records. He even made a fake award for himself from Namco for best Pac Man player. He had a line of hot sauce. I recommend looking into this guy cause he is like, a comedy movie villain scummy
Just watched the king of Kong; man what a ride; it is entirely unfair that the guy who insisted that scores had to be achieved publicly (an entirely acceptable proposal) got to just send in a video tape.
Man I can’t believe I sat through that whole thing and didn’t even feel the time fly by, lol
It’s a great watch.
HAS a line of hot sauce. Family-owned, which is why he has all this money for lawsuits. Well yeah, the hilarity is the point. Who knew he had his own Youtube channel? I only hear about him from Karl Jobst’ channel. Every once in a while he puts out a video and it’s comedy gold. There’s nothing I like more than a good asshole. Spiderman? Nah. J. Jonah Jameson is the real hero!
He can play well. He is neither legit or good.
I watched him play Pac-Man without patterns and it was interesting to see him go through the easy levels until it started getting hard.
The thing about Mitchell is that he really was the best (in America) at one point in time, but when better players came along he handled it so poorly he torched his reputation cheating to try and keep the number one spot. He could be fondly remembered as an icon of the earliest era of competetive video games but he (and most of the rest of the Twin Galaxies alumni) ensured that he will always be remembered as kind of an embarrassment instead.
Many such cases. Rest on your laurels folks
