Harris v Hillary while AOC gets the Bernie/Corbyn treatment despite being overwhelmingly popular with the base would be a funny primary to watch.

If the same friend who tried really hard to convince me people should vote for Kamala “for trans people” tries again, I’m just blocking them on all platforms lol. Don’t do this to me again.

I think we need to be transactional voters,” she said to scattered cheers in the room. “Here’s what I’m suggesting in addition: get yours. Vote and say, ‘I’m voting because I expect something out of this’…. I’m saying it’s okay to also give people permission to be transactional, and to say, if you will get my vote, this is what I expect. I expect to get something out of this.

Okay cool so you are telling us not to vote for you?

    Brilliant strategy.

“Scattered cheers” is a hell of a way to frame what was likely most of the people being like “Uh… what the fuck?”

But seriously if the DemoKKKratic Party wants to run a woman of color and insists that they just have to run a woke-imperialist monster (KKKamala “HHolocauϟϟt HHarri⚡︎⚡︎” , AOCIA), Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar are right there as the obvious ticket, and then they could actually get votes from leftists.  Those are the only two Democrats I would vote for.  What are the centrist dems going to do, vote for Trump’s successor? No, they’re so afraid of the Republicans that they’ll fall in line and vote blue no matter who.

“Sorry but we’ve decided that the left’s vote isn’t worth pursuing, don’t worry though, we’ll still shame you for not voting as we try to target the 15 or so Republicans in the country who consider possibly voting for us if only we’d be a little more openly racist.”

Unfortunately, Ilhan Omar isn’t eligible as she isn’t a natural born citizen. There’s always chatter about amending the constitution to allow foreign-born citizens to hold office. But the monkey’s paw curls and we wouldn’t get Ilhan Omar. We’d get something like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Victoria Spartz, Elon Musk, Andy Garcia, or Elaine Chao.

Welllllll… would they? I think a lot of that rhetoric comes out of people in a comfortable assumption that it’ll be a “sensible centrist” that will win the primary and it’s the left that has to hold their nose when they vote. If it’s someone who’s to the left of Elizabeth Warren, you’d be seeing a bunch of “why it’s okay for liberals to vote for Tom Cotton” op-eds.

Of course they would!  They wouldn’t just lie in order to gaslight leftists into voting for fascists, would they? curious-sickle

Of course, you’re correct.  And they’d blame the Left for destroying the Democratic Party by forcing liberals to vote for the Republican Party to stop Communism.

the problem last time was she only had two campaign HQs. you can’t win a modern American presidential race with just two HQs. you are going to need four or five HQs with overlapping responsibilities

At one point, the crowd in the packed ballroom repeatedly chanted, “Run again! Run again!”

Later, the cheers for Harris grew to such a tenor, Sharpton jokingly admonished the crowd: “This is a convention, not a revival.”

it-is-happening-again they fucking pay to live in their own IRL echo chamber.

There’s some sort of constructed social reality that surrounds popular democratic politicians. Like a halo of consultants, orbiting the politician, going beyond being a yes-man but actively encouraging delusion and shielding them from any negativity. Truley Potemkin village shit. Some psychologist should embed themselves amongst them and do a study.
