Does this mean computers will finally be cheaper now?

Also I assume this means the US bubble has burst too and but they’re doing what western capitalists do and lie about the economy as to not scare investors “Don’t say recession!” and all that.

According to Reuters, state-backed investors sold into market rallies, or periods of rapid gains, to keep those gains in check, as part of a push by the government to dampen volatility.

The CPC just keeps winning they can’t help it.

It’s amazing to me how a company can lose a staggering $80 trillion dollars and still secure more loans. Meanwhile my broke ass can’t get a loan for a car since I don’t have a credit score. Like the old saying (paraphrasing) “you owe someone $100 you have a problem. you owe someone $100 million and THEY have a problem”.

It’s how amazon and uber came to be. All the capitalists get together and decide which startup is going to be the next monopoly and use their (our) infinite money to create reality in their image.

We live in very hypocrite times. Everything is upside down. What’s old is new again and freedom means less of it.

Something I’ve noticed lately is just how aggressive the techbro influencers are getting. Guys like Primagen who used to be more “AI is a cool tool” have taken tons of money from AI companies and now literally everything they say is “well, seems like it’s all solved!”.

There’s gotta be an insane amount of money flowing through that pipeline right now to try and control the narrative.

They did some tier list thing with his podcast recently, and he vibecoded the tier list interface. Then just kept telling it to rewrite basic things during the video lol.

It was bad enough that his co-hosts were mocking him lol. He also tried to say “AI makes this irrelevant” to basically every programming “law” they were tier listing. Something that everyone else just kinda nodded along with then ignored.

It’s like watching a junkie hit rock bottom in real time…

DeepSeek is gonna keep making money because they’re playing a short position on everyone else. So they either make money selling their stuff or make it by driving everyone else’s stock down.

The stocks have been going down steadily. Reuters did a much better report, futurism’s reporting on the llm madness has somehow been worse than bloomberg’s.

If you want actually reasonable critique zitron is sort of polemic but at least based in reality, pivot to ai is a blog with actually real critiques that discusses the hilariously bad studies/business shit.

I go to futurism for the human based stuff, like instances of AI psychosis causing suicides or AI being used to plan mass shootings.

Zitron is my go to for actual financial analysis, even though he can be a bit overly poetic sometimes lol.

I mean, this is literally the market correcting itself earlier there than here, it’s not gonna take them down, market capitalization doesn’t work like that.

China is simply responding to the market signals faster than the U.S. is, which means that the U.S. might be left holding the bag… But like, really that just means the American people are left holding the bag, which unfortunately doesn’t matter since money is fake. Or maybe Europe or Africa or Latin America. Debt is a tricky asset to manage because it has a complex relationship with labor value due to its abstract nature.

Point is, it isn’t as though China’s economy is fragile, there has been plenty of market capitalization in areas that are not AI related. It is unclear to me what the supposed housing crash in China really did outside of lower housing prices and, once again, fucking over landlords and property speculators, so it will be interesting to see exactly what happens over there.

I saw a fair few articles on sixth tone about people forced to live in the unfinished buildings they pre-purchased after the people who were supposed to build it went under, so it did hurt ordinary people.

Have you seen articles about the billions spent in government programmes ensuring the housing was finished after the crash, and how the government stepped up and helped the people this way instead of letting them hold the bag?

I did, there were a few cases I read about where straight up the government gave more money to the builders and then they just ran off with the extra cash after barely doing anything, but I was reading about that when the wound was more fresh. It wasn’t a great situation regardless, and while it’s certainly better than doing nothing, costing the government billions of dollars to clean up the mess left behind by these corporations is not good. Bailing out the people who got caught up in this was good, but it’d be better if you didn’t have to bail out anyone in the first place.

Well yeah, ideally the Soviet model of housing would be applied, where you don’t have to advance any money at all and you’re granted housing by your work union based on proximity to workplace and by need, making everything more efficient and 100% removing uncertainty from people, I consider myself a Bolshevik and not a Dengist. It’s still the socialist model in existence today, and the best in the world as things are (besides Cuba) in terms of material access to housing, and while it’s good to engage in critical analysis it’s also important to remember that the majority of people who got shafted already have had their home built.

costing the government billions of dollars

Fortunately the Chinese government pays builders in RMB, not in dollars, and the central bank of China can create unlimited amounts of RMB. The government spending that money on housing doesn’t imply that the money isn’t going somewhere else, because states don’t function as private economic actors with limited spending capability. Also, the president of Evergrande has been sentenced to maximum prison sentence.

What a lot of people miss about this is that, in China, the stock market is really not all that important. It’s even more fake and detached from the actual economy than it is in the West because China has a very healthy real economy, whereas the stock market is just a little casino on the side for the rich. So i wouldn’t take what is happening there too seriously.

When Nvidia itself pops - try +$2.1 Trillion go poof. China AI has already decimated US in terms of compute and power efficiency. Not to mention their goals are far more meaningful to their society whereas ours is war crimes and survailence crapitalism.
