Europeans couldn’t even beat 1939 Africans in 1939. Ethiopia fought Italy and sent them packing. Germany occupied North Africa but were eventually defeated (though this involved the rest of the Allies). What a nonsense question.

The key difference is that 1939 pilots generally had to see their opponents to fight them, while a modern fighter can detect, track and attack an enemy without ever being seen itself. So basically, the 1939 air forces would be fighting an invisible enemy from day one. And that’s not even getting into modern advances like drones.

I can’t even begin to imagine how badly Africa’s “humble” air forces would dominate the theater of war.

But sure… let’s keep pretending that 1939 Europe could just roll over them. Pure hubris and arrogance.

But hey, that’s fascism for you.

It would make for a fun scenario to see the flag of a United Africa fly over the Reichstag though. sankara-shining

i half remember that air superiority in vietnam was kinda weird. F-4s couldn’t dogfight the old migs or whatever, so there could be some issues where targeting systems won’t lock on to anything properly because nobody ever programmed them to shoot down that old shit.

Africa would still win of course but i think manpads or lack of mission range might be more to do with it.

where’s flakes i need a gif of f-14s or 15s trying to shoot down the wright flyer

There is no universe where 1939 Europe could do a thing to 2026 Africa. Even shit like drones are impossible to reverse engineer because the logistics of building a $2k bomb drone are impossible to accomplish with 40s tech

They really do honestly believe the only reason colonialism stopped being done out in the open is because Europeans just felt like being kind to the untermensch. All of western society is going to need just so much damn reeducation.

Yeah, I think that they’d take some losses early. 1939 Europe is already experiencing total war and is ready to LET’S FUCKING GO wherever. Africa(or others) would need some time to react, and would probably take early territorial losses. If it were a very small 2026 country they might be overwhelmed, but I don’t think it’d be the end. Modern technology allows for extremely effective guerilla warfare

Even if they get to buy a bunch of shit first, unless that includes personnel who are elite guerillas, I don’t think the Vatican’s people are really going to succeed in guerilla warfare vs the Soviets, Nazi Germany, the European Allies, and let’s not forget being surrounded on all sides by Fascist Italy which, even if they are a pushover compared to the others, can still cooperate with the others and totally encircle the Vatican.

But even if we imagine Italy as a vacated neutral ground, there’s no winning guerilla warfare when literally every structure and tree that stands more than 10 ft tall is bombed out, and the ruins of important structures are firebombed even harder to just cook/suffocate survivors in any bunkers, and then you have like 30 million soldiers systematically rooting through the rubble with the help of tanks, etc. The scale genuinely makes opposition inconceivable unless you want to imagine mercenaries scattering through Italy and doing a Protracted Papists’ War or something.

Maybe I don’t know anything, I admit that I’m not like a military expert or anything, I just really thing there’s nothing doing here.

I wanna watch the FPV footage of Nazi, French, and British soldiers ( who are also trying to kill each other) getting vaporized when they either land on the beach in slow metal deathtraps or die trying to parachute out of incredibly slow planes

Motherfucker they’d catch COVID or any number of newer diseases that we’ve got vaccines for and they don’t and lose half their manpower.

It’d be like the Europeans bringing diseases from the old world over to the Americas. Oh what’s a 1939 European going to infect a 2026 African with? Polio? We have a vaccine for that. What’s a 1939 European able to do against modern strains of diseases? They didn’t even use penicillin until the 40’s.

Smallpox is all I can think of.

Kind of sad that we’ve eradicated no others.

The answer is presumably “nowhere else interferes,” but modern Africa doesn’t need anywhere else in this context.

In some cases it might benefit from certain places (like modern France) being abstracted out of existence.

Population of Europe in 1939: ~560 Million

Population from Africa in 2026: ~1.6 Billion

Both are rounded up from the estimates I could find, former is obviously rough given the time period but still, no where close to the opposition. Further, African forces are going to be using, at the absolute worst, cold war era weapons, putting giving them superior arms as well.

So one side has superior numbers, arms(and we’re not factoring in this is 39 Europe on the brink of a war, we’re presuming they’re uniting in this scenario) and yet people *still think the clear loser would win.

So uh yeah something something fuck crackers idk

even ignoring the tremendous advances in combat vehicles, aircraft, missiles etc. any modern african country’s military would have a massive advantage even on the level of the individual soldier
it’s squads with plate carriers, kevlar, comms gear, and automatic weapons vs unarmored dudes with lee enfields and steel helmets
