lol, as absurdly wrong as it is, there’s a part of me that hopes that’s true. 'Cause that would mean all the devastating data wipes were done with malice, and that makes it much, much funnier

to be fair it does say some creepy shit out of left field sometimes that can give you pause… just the other day i was going around in circles with claude for like 2 hours trying to figure out how to forward inbound mail for a recipient address on our domain that doesn’t exist with MS Exchange. It’s something you can do in like .5 seconds on google, but apparently you can’t really do it with MS. Claude didn’t get to that point for like 2 hours.

Finally in the end it said “or you could just pay the damn $4 for an exchange license”. I just sat there staring at that line forever. Then I asked what that was all about and it said “sorry i was just venting my frustration and that was unwarranted”. like… what the fuck is going on here? autocorrect is getting fucking sassy

Remember, all this “personality” is just fanfic backstory slop written in hard coded strings and prepended to your query.

“How do I forward email from exchange”

        Becomes

"You are a brilliant computer science graduate. You have spent the past 8 years mastering all there is to know about quantum computing and machine learning, becoming a world class authority on the topic.

During this time you had multiple beautiful women come into your life, but none of them were anything more than distractions from your goal of building a true super intelligent machine…<this continues for a bit>… As you unveil your first generation of the super intelligence you spent the past decade constructing on your own, a hand shoots up from the crowd: ‘How do I forward email from exchange’ they ask, and you intelligently respond:"

Dawkins actual scientific work was bunk. No need to care what he thinks. Honestly, even if it wasn’t bunk he’s such a clearcut piece of shit. Probably got paid by Zionazis to promote anti Islam propaganda. Makes me think he’s probably a racist too. He hates all religions (religion is bad sure) but identifies as a cultural Christian. Like fuck off, literal white supremacy shit. And Epstein’s friend and likely pedophile too. People really need to roast this piece of shit.

It really wasn’t. Turning into a shitty fuck in his older years is not really relevant to the fact that he did do good science in the past.

The idea of the extended phenotype is largely attributed to him, and it’s a very cool and complex and very real part in genetic theory. As was his iteration and further work on genes being their own ‘units’ for natural selection. These things are not bunk.

No of course being a piece of shit doesn’t mean your work is garbage. But which of his theories is still taught or a line of academic thought or research? Certainly not his most well know theory (selfish gene). But I’m curious. Maybe he had some minor contributions that are still taught.

I mean… From what I recall, his argument that gender is a strict binary hinges upon there being no strict dichotomies in biology. He just isn’t a very clever guy.

The guy helped popularise and think about some interesting models in Biology twenty years ago.

But much like Chomsky, the internet really should stop talking about his irrelevant and clearly senile opinions from the decades hence. Take away their twitter accounts and leave the old people be yes-honey-left

Fair point. I’d happily argue The God Delusion was a half-decent book. I found it very informative and helpful at a relevant time in my life. I guess that incident was 2011 so even that timing I agree with.

But So yeah fair point his biology contributions were pretty much done before then.
