Hyperlinks are typically blue and underlined. Until you click/tap them, at which point they turn purple.

As someone that always customizes their hyperlink colors, it took me a moment to remember that the default was blue and purple to get the joke. If it wasn’t for the other comments, I might still be confused.
Hahahaha, saw it just after waking up and didn’t get it. I just had breakfast and it clicked.

This weirdo told me his name and I thought he said “Link”, I thought that’s a cool name
I just misheard him but he flipped out when he realized my misunderstanding
He went by Shaggy and Steve and a different name every time asked, all arounda shady character, but he’d never thought of calling himself Link

Why wouldn’t they? Links did not stop turning purple, this still happens very often.
where? i don’t remember the last time I’ve seen a website without custom styling that overrides this.

This really is not a rare thing. At all.
Well, lots of webpages apply CSS, either disabling the history coloring entirely or at least choosing different colors. It does still happen with blue and purple, but it’s not nearly as obvious anymore that these specific two colors refer to that.
Actually, now that I think about it, accessed links in Google Sheets only change to a different color of blue.
