Due to federated nature of Lemmy/Kbin, your block list will be available publicly (at least readable to random 3rd party servers) in order to implement this. Some people already not comfortable that their downvotes are not private, and may also freak out if their know their block list are not private as well. Not sure if mastodon also have issue or not though.

I’d rather they added some kind of feature to moderator tools to track people who frequently respond to users that have blocked them. The way Reddit handles blocks is really disruptive and often abused by spammers and others.

On the Internet you’re not arguing to convince that person you’re arguing with.
You should argue to challenge the statements that person made for other people that will read the thread so those opinions are not out there without any counterarguments

That’s basically the game the elites want us to play.

The societal problems are so preposterous and button-click simple to solve for a government as powerful as ours, there’s no other logical explanation.

They want our eyes off the ball. That much is clear.

In an Internet argument, it usually takes like 2-3 replies in to figure out if a person is arguing in good or bad faith.

If they are arguing in bad faith, there is no reason not to block them, they are wasting your time

It can be SO tempting to reply to someone who’s being a jerk, but it’s very rarely worth it. I restrain myself because nobody “wins” an argument online. It’s just two bickering losers.

I’ve literally changed my position on important matters due to patient and considerate discussions that occured entirely on the Internet (Facebook of all places, if you can believe it). But yeah, with a jerk acting as a troll, that’s not going to happen, no matter how much you might wish for it.

I used to be proud of how I never blocked anybody.

    Now I don’t look back:-).

    Live and learn.

Do like the guy in the photo and fall asleep in the middle of conversations. Nobody will argue with you.

I can’t tell if they deliberately put a comma there in order to change the meaning of the phrase.

I dont block people. I see how it’s useful and help deal with trolls, but it gives people the easy path out of discussion and actually thinking about something.

It gets to a point where you just block anyone who disagrees with you and leads to the bubble life.

For me, i think that all ideas, even the bad ones, should have a voice. They should have a place in the world, hearing both good and bad ideas can help to separate them and identify people who srgue in bad faith.

Although that decision came from spending time fruitlessly arguing with people on the site that shall not be named.

      Nope. Block them.

There’s an unending supply of morons with insane opinions. You are not going to run out.
