That sounds familiar. I knew lots of folks whose motivation was highest at the start of college and then the grind started wearing on them by the end.
My lopsided experience was mostly due to undiagnosed ADHD. “Gifted” when young, distracted by girls and unknown ADHD as a teen, then finally diagnosed at 20 and my grades came back around.
Absolutely. My grades definitely dipped in high school but then were appropriately geeky again by college and through grad school.
It makes you go blind.
Don’t worry, you’ll forget about it soon.
This has to be the best case outcome, lol
Haha, I don’t think I believe that black could win!
I wonder what stockfish would say about this position
And I thought I had come up with a unique handle when I signed up for Lemmy… But I guess I shouldn’t underestimate Star Trek fans. They’re everywhere.
Also, damn! That Picard has been playing on chess.com since 2012! I only got into chess in the post-pandemic boom. I wish I had when I was a kid, but I didn’t appreciate the game like I do now.
I can’t claim credit for the majority of memes I share. I just pick them up elsewhere and think “Yeah, Lemmy would like this”
Was there a Picard Maneuver? Lol
No, I’m actually a daily game player.
Bullet and blitz stress me out.

Sorry, but I’m going to lock this.
I don’t know what’s happening, but it can be fun.
In the 1972 world championship in Iceland, Bobby Fischer famously blundered his bishop by taking a “free” pawn on h2 (because it could be trapped by white playing g3)
It was a shocking lapse in calculation for someone as dominant as Fischer.
Your username sounds like an onomatopoeia of this video.
That’s Knuckles, and the baby is a Chao. I don’t recognize the alligator character though.
Or Treebeard tell a story?
