A journalist on Bluesky had a friend of hers send her a deep fake made by a bank to serve to her friends.

Here I am, boycotting any company that pays for unskippable ads I come across. How are people ok with getting flooded with bullshit like this?
In the Good Future, omnipresent advertisement will be studied as the form of psychological warfare that it is.
I don’t understand how people can do it. I fucking turn shit off if I can’t disable the ads
yeah anytime i use someone else’s computer or phone or whatever and i get blasted with ads i forget just how awful the internet is for most people
How are people ok with getting flooded with bullshit like this?
Most Americans support free enterprise and capitalism. The sad fact is that at least in the US, most people want this shit.
Doing something personally is not a boycott.
“A boycott is an act of nonviolent, voluntary abstention from a product, person, organization, or country as an expression of protest. It is usually for moral, social, political, or environmental reasons. The purpose of a boycott is to inflict some economic loss on the target, or to indicate a moral outrage, usually to try to compel the target to alter an objectionable behavior.”
This is what I was taught, but if there’s a better word I’d love to be informed.
When it’s organised, it’s a boycott. When it’s one person’s choices, it’s being a consumer.
Zuckerberg deserves to be cognizant yet frozen while we all get to point and laugh
And let him live like that a thousand years
Have we invented freezing people in carbonite yet?
I tried asking Grok about this for Elon
No response, I guess you can’t induce locked in syndrome… yet.

can’t wait for elderly people to be served personalized ads of their deep faked children offering them comp cash on their birthday for online gambling.

if nuclear war ever breaks out, the whole bay area will be gone in the blink of an eye… and that helps me sleep at night
I am so happy that Meta has nearly zero data on me (I’m sure my dumbass blood relations uploaded my wedding pictures). This is so screwed up. I’m sure boomers don’t care though. This is the only way they’ll see their kids again anyways.
This works because the majority of meta customers are divorced boomers and widowers so they can put in the ex or deceased partner and be like “Hello NAME HERE it is I your beloved NAME HERE asking you to buy PRODUCT”
meta owns insta
Oh shit I forgor about that, well it’s even worse now.
It’s okay, this isn’t illegal because you ticked that you read facebook’s 400-page terms and conditions document 16 years ago.
don’t use meta :skill issue:
This was the logical trajectory.
zucc should get the kirk treatment
@feds☝️by which i mean he should be memeified with AI so he knows the feeling and might reconsider his position on the matter :)))))
Surely this has to get so egregious that even root vegetables in the garden will take offense, right? Right?
the origin of this sin ought to be drawn and quartered like a blasphemer of old
the very earth strains by the weight of the house of zuckerberg. mere propriety demands a certain division of its prodigious heap
Hundreds of pictures of me as a hopelessly drunk 20-something millennial.
That’s me, posting a picture of four shots then four empty shot glasses 5 minutes later at a sleazy club.
That’s me.
I’d like to give you banking advice while you hold back my hair as I vomit into a bucket at a house party and then upload those photos to an album called “you only live once, invest wisely”

This looks like it was done on instagram too. Jesus Christ so many people in my life are absolutely addicted to instagram. Fuck
