I didn’t know it had ridiculous and surely dangerous doors. I should have assumed so.

I just realized why these things are designed to not have a driver lol, a lot of Taxi and Uber are immigrants and poc. This is a product for racists who don’t want to be in the same car as a brown person.

A taxi with 2 doors? Does it have 2 or 4 seats?

ofc it has just two seats, because this is made by Tesla and has to be as stupid as humanly possible

also in spite of this being a self-driving car without any controls that could be used by humans, it only has cameras and microphones as sensors. No radar, no lidar, and the sides and rear are covered by just one camera each oh and ofc it has these dumb butterfly doors on top of all that

Wtf is the point in a taxi with 2 fucking seats? Do these dumbasses not imagine more than 2 people sitting in a car ever? The greatest possible benefit of autonomous driving that I can see is you could make pod vehicles in a completely different design to existing cars where like 6 people could fit inside them and they could all be facing each other. Forwards-facing design has only happened because of the driver we put seats facing any direction inside trains.

They imagine people needing to pay twice as much for two cabs would be my guess.

Butterfly doors, and most other door opening are there to prevent the door from hitting curves, since most of the cars that have it are lowered, but this thing only has it for aesthatics, that door won’t hit curves

you’re thinking of scissor doors, they’re harder to get in and when you’re in a parking lot or a place that has a low roof they hit the ceiling

        scissor doors

        Lamborghini Diablo

        Butterfly doors

        Toyota Sera

Thing is Tesla already has a thing going on with doors on the model X, CW// Elon Musk demonstrating a car https://youtu.be/aBtKSTW5CD8&t=54 , I don’t know why they didn’t reuse these for the cybercab

Honestly, it looks as if it’s designed for maximum peacock factor, just taking up as much space as possible.

Oh and ofc the camera array on the sides and the rear is so underequipped that it will routinely not spot bikers coming up from behind.

Also I found a picture of the interior, just a giant tablet screen and two cup holders

It’s amazing how Tesla just creates the worst interiors of all time. My wife and I had to rent a car while visiting family a couple years ago and they “upgraded” me to a model 3 because they gave the EV we booked to someone else.

They remind me of 90s Kias in terms of plastic quality and comfort level. The seats were so uncomfortable and I felt like if I tried, I could just put a finger through the cheap-ass leather.

Seems the main selling point this was designed around was the part with the self cleaning cockpit.

I couldn’t care less about the the way the doors open and the little scribble. What gets me are the solid oversized wheel covers which are not visible in the picture. The old headlights that were not bar shaped also looked nicer.

That said, Teslas have never been elegant. The chrome finish on the Model S looked tacky, the incongruent doorjumble Model X doesn’t know if wants to be 1. a hatchback, 2. an SUV, or 3. a minivan, and winds up looking bloated like Loomer’s destroyed visage. The old roadster was an unimaginative Lotus retrofit and while the new really one doesn’t offend as much, it doesn’t get us past early 2010’s Lamborghinis and Ferraris in terms of design. It looks this dated because it’s been in development for nine odd years.

I can’t resist sharing my favorite billionaire quote of all time.

Being a billionaire must be insane. You can buy new teeth, new skin. All your chairs cost 20,000 dollars and weigh 2,000 pounds. Your life is just a series of your own preferences. In terms of cognitive impairment it’s probably like being kicked in the head by a horse every day.
