I’m attending an illegal protest in Delhi tomorrow at Jantar Mantar.
The place is riddled with police and security cameras. Probably has all possible modes of Surveillance possible as well.
I’m planning on taking public transport to the location. Although that route would be riddled with Cameras all the way from my home to the location. Uber would be the same. Anything else is not feasible.
Any specific precautions that I should take?
Rule #1 of attending illegal protests: don’t talk about attending illegal protests on social media.
- No phone. Leave it on and at home.
- Cover your face. Black n95 or similar (face detection is worse with black).
- Have a plan for and willingness to leave.
- Ideally have a buddy and align 100% on the plan.
- Carry and use cash if feasible. If not, obfuscate by walking. For example, if you need to buy a drink with a card or similar (hopefully not phone!) walk 15-20 blocks out of the way first.
- Speaking of drinks bring water. Water is useful for many things aside from drinking.
- If there is any likelihood of use of weapons (crowd control gases, rubber bullets etc) bring ballistic goggles and a P99 or similar respirator if possible. Put them in a bag, only get them out if you need them. Could also have a helmet but that’s harder to hide in a bag.
This first precaution you should have taken, and I mean this sincerely and not as a dig, is that you shouldn’t have posted the time and place (and transit method!) online anywhere, let alone a forum like this one. I recommend taking note of what responses you got (which are pretty good) and then deleting the thread, maybe reposting with less identifying information.
Never talk about a crime in advance and only talk about a crime afterward if you have really good reason to that outweighs plausible negatives.
I doubt the Indian government even knows about Hexbear.
Probably not, but they can quite easily discover it in the process of investigating.

I’ll definitely get arrested if I wear this lol. I live in India, not China. It’s not a free country. Jantar Mantar is also a state controlled protest site so you need to go through a police entry booth.
a state controlled protest site
this org chose a state-controlled protest site to do an illegal protest?
sus
No other options because the protest would be dispersed if we don’t do it on that site.
Sorry, that’s all I know to contribute.
Fascist protest gear? Cool
The tactics are sound. Black bloc+hard hat.
Disable biometrics on your phone. Before you arrive turn your phone off. If you can manage it, leave it at home. Pack basic medical supplies if you can, bandages, gloves, etc. Look up what an LRAD is and learn what it looks like. If you see one coming out, get out of its path. Ear protection still only do so much. It’s like standing in front of a jet engine.
I’m not sure how things work in your country but if something happens and you need emergency services, calling your 911 dispatch equivalent might not be good, since the cops likely caused the emergency, and you’ll be calling the cops. So know where the local ER is, get its direct phone number, and keep it on hand.
That’s all I got really.
Yeah fuck the phone, it stays home if you’re doing illegal shit. Make them work to prove you weren’t taking a nap.
I will pray for your safety take care.
Is this the women’s quota protest?
No it’s for the exam leak protest. They arrested the protest leader yesterday who was on hunger strike for 21 days.

Hi friend you get home safe?
Yeah. There were way too many protesters for these goons to press charges. I’ll make a post about it soon.
Glad to hear it!
