He should have used his available sick days, what’s the point of fighting for rights if no one uses them?

His foolish stoicism did nothing but benefit a corporation, endanger the public, and make it less acceptable for his colleges to take sickdays when required.

It’s funny to me that the blue tick has gone from meaning ‘oh good, this is at least coming from a verified source’ to ‘this is almost certain to be alt right bullshit’.

I was more getting at the headline being worded to imply the corporation is doing the ‘gifting’ here.

How many people did he get sick because he refused to stay home when he should’ve?

I won’t encourage this kind of dedication

One of my coworkers just retired and they said she’d never missed a day in 47 years and I had the same reaction. Like, sorry, unless she’s secretly immortal, no fucking way did she go her entire adult life without getting sick even once, so thanks for bringing all your germs in, I guess. Hope the single sentence in the employee newsletter most people don’t read was worth it.

I’ve taken several mental health days in my lifetime of work. I cannot imagine not having that as an option especially when you know you cannot mentally work.

He could also have had the weekend sickness. Happened a couple times with me now that I get sick Friday eve and am recovered 80-90% for Monday. Swear my body holds out on purpose so that I don’t get a day off.

He had paid time off, not a lot I’m sure even after 30 years the cap is probably low. Either way he still should have utilized those days while sick.

This is usually how PTO in minimum wage jobs works. “Hey boss can I use a PTO day? I’m sick.” “Just find someone to cover your shift.” Of course nobody volunteers so you go in sick or get fired.

As a european i think its fucking disgusting that sick days in america are substracted from vacation days. Don’t you deserve any vacation because you happen to be sick more often then someone else?

Here in germany, if I geht sick during a vacation, i’ll call work and get back all the vacation days that I happened to be sick, because everyone should use his vacation days to regenerate and relax, not to lie in bed being sick.

Having paid time off on paper doesn’t mean you have it in practice, as anyone who’s worked food service can tell you. Blaming the guy who had to stay in a low wage job for decades for his kids’ health insurance instead of the corporation that fosters an environment where people are discouraged from or punished for calling out is missing the forest for the trees.

Sadly, I won’t be eating there much anymore, as they have discontinued the 2 for 1 deal they used to have on whoppers. It was pretty much the only reason I went there anymore.

I tried their Impossible Whopper once hoping it would entice me to go there, but it was so ridiculously salty that I never went back. Also, their fries have always sucked.

Looks like they’re over $6 today. Way too much for a hit-or-miss item. It sucks because I really want fast food places to offer more plant-based options. The Subway veggie patty used to be pretty good, but I haven’t had it in quite some time.

Ugh tell me about it, it’s like $12 for the combo. Don’t get it nearly as much as I used to.

That veggie patty is absolutely incredible but this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone else mention it! No matter which subway I order it from it seems like there’s a 50/50 shot of them actually having it, I guess it’s not popular enough for anyone to notice :( Always gives me a post lunch crash for the ages tho hahaha

Yeah, most people don’t know it exists and sometimes Subway employees get confused if you ask for it, but it’s surprisingly good for a veggie patty. Better than stuff like Morningstar Farms or Boca burgers.
