DSA officially defenders of genocide now. Time to take sides DSA comrades. Are you on the side of Pragmatic genocide defense or do you care about the lives of humans being slaughtered wholesale?

NYC DSA fought against banning Zionism in DSA at the national level for years. DSA’s intransigence in this drove away many Palestinian organizers and their allies. They were only temporarily pro-Palestine when it was electorally convenient. They always prioritize their own electoral projects over any semblance of a socialist project.

Every day I am becoming further convinced that the first decent socialist org will be from hardliners splitting out of the DSA once its internal contradictions become unbearable. Like the spartacus league yk. Then shit like this happens and I wonder what that red line could possibly be.

id like to remind everyone that ukraine only has half of its 1991 population. paraguay once had to deal with a genocidal war (war of the triple alliance) that killed nearly 70-90% of its population. neither have yet to end up communist.

the conditions for communism surfacing seem to be very specific trans-sad

It took a literal world war with hundreds of millions dying to establish the first successful state-wide communist revolution, with mass global impoverishment, at a time when most migration, even for the wealthy, was done by train.

The conditions that are fundamentally missing is that all of these areas are fundamentally isolated, so if one has the means to revolt, it is easier to use those means to hop on a flight and leave. The issue is mostly that there is still too much global surplus that can be dealt out.

Ultimately we are in a position where there is a global international bourgeois that, through its various connections, pretty much runs everything that is important (water purification, fuel refining, finance, major agricultural products, entertainment, etc.) and a working class that is barely even conscious of itself. It will take some major disruption, or likely a series of major disruptions, thst weakens the grasp of those in power. The issue still, of course, being that that global international bourgeois loves a good crisis, if it can organize around it and profit from it.

A: There must be suffering for change to happen

B: Most people past to present have lived in misery. Yet they did not or could not immediately reshape the world.

Synthesis: Change requires a fracturing in the status quo plus the motivation by progressive elements to take its place.

Necessary conditions but not sufficient. Ukraine specifically was experiencing the collapse of communism and the take-over by rightwing capitalists during the period with the most atrocious conditions, which is just about the worst possible situation for a communist party. Can’t speak for Paraguay though as I’m not educated sufficiently in that war.

i’ll believe it when I see it. The “dirty split” entryist “plan” has never appeared to me to be anything more than cope and excuses to do lib reformist electoralism but communistly.

Like Trotskyite entryism is pretty thoroughly discredited in terms of the Democratic Party, but there at least it kind of makes sense in theory because wresting control of that apparatus would be a big deal and would bring a lot of normies along with it. The DSA though? It’s not very big to start with, let alone after a split it will just be another tiny org.

I’m beginning to suspect it will be a formation born out of something like tenant organizing. There’s a lot of good work happening in LA and Kentucky. If those organizations can consolidate across a broader region, they feel well-situated, to me, to actually start to lead.

Frankly I’d like to wishcast that the membership can save it, but no internal mechanisms really exist that can meaningfully challenge the entrenched power structures and players who’ve been pretty remorseless in the face of genuine sexual scandals. If they’d just allow for more genuine democratic expression internally, it will lead to a whole host of different contradictions but right now the very commandeering tendencies of the party typified by Ben Becker have lead it to a point where national leadership has been shown to be a fucking liability

They certainly haven’t handled sexual misconduct well at the national level. They’ve also doubled down on the “the former member is a factionalist trying to hurt PSL” line.

as anything more than a socialist media company run by its founding family & protest march organizer, yes IMO. it would need a leadership coup followed by dedicated outreach to try and bring back and repair relationships with cadre who left to be turned around and anyone who stayed after the most recent SA scandal is at least nominally comfortable carrying out a party line that claims that case resurfacing was a cointelpro op. so that seems highly unlikely at this point.

You don’t understand, they HAVE to bend the knee to Israeli interests. Socialism can only win if they sacrifice every principle and stand for absolutely nothing.

NYC DSA is everything wrong with the American Left compressed into a single group. All the chauvinism, liberal zionism, social fascism, electoral deadendism, idealist nonsense, chomskyite confusion, going all in on Bernie Sanders, Mamdanism quietism. They are so consistently wrong on every single front.
