I’ve been getting the basics from the free stuff at theduchy.com (NSFW, but the models wear a full body suit). I cant pay for the whole thing rn and I couldn’t find any other good similar resource (didn’t like what I saw on YouTube), so shoot them my way if you have them.
My current repertoire is pretty much double columns like I did with these broomsticks (just imagine they’re wrists or legs or whatever since I’m not gonna expose another person online).
They’re versatile and very easy: lark’s head around both appendages; invert the direction and wrap around horizontally a few times; half-hitch; wrap each rope end in opposite directions vertically around the whole thing (one wraps around from above, the other goes from below, repeat a few times - this makes the vertical strands you see in the middle); finish with a square knot so it doesn’t gets loose nor tightens when you pull.
I want to learn hip or chest ties, because I think they look great
I just want to say again that Hexbear should have more kink adjacent content because it’s cool and this is a good post.
I don’t do rope because I don’t have the patience to top and I’m too fidgety to bottom for it. But I enjoy watching rope scenes they’re often so artistic

Seconded.
I also don’t do rope much, but mostly because I’m worried about doing it wrong and causing problems like nerve damage or cutting off circulation. I stick to chains and cuffs generally.
Yeah rope safety requires you to know where is safe to tie, where is not safe to tie, and a nearby knife or scissors to cut in case a mistake is made.
The most experienced rigger i know recommended me this as a ressource: https://rope365.com/spring/ (CNs: shibari, obviously, also some nudity tho most of the models are clothed). She also sent me some youtube links, but you’ve ruled these out. She also really recommends practicing at workshops, idk if there’s any in your area that you’re comfortable attending.
Thanks a lot!
Tbh, it never crossed my mind that there could be workshops around, I’ll keep an eye out for those. How do they usually work?
I’m new to this so i’ve never been to one myself, but i have several friends who swear by them. Apparently there’s all kinds of different ones from weekly paid evening classes to casual get-togethers in kink communities.
So, shibari is kinda weeb shit? A lot of the knots are very unsafe. At least thats what my domme says and shes very good
Genuine questions:
-
how long does tying someone up take
-
what do they do for however long it takes to do this
-
what is the mood while getting all this stuff set up
As someone deep in the kink space the answers to these questions and pretty much all kink related questions are however long the folks agree it should take, whatever they want to, and whatever they want to.
From the outside I think a lot of people think of kink as one specific thing but what I’ve learned over the years is that each scene is usually pretty hyper specific to whatever the participants in that scene want it to be, excepting some of the really boring heteronormative control shit.
Most of the rope scenes I’ve seen are just talking and giggling and lots of “how’s that feel” and “is that too tight” and “oh wow that’s a cool sensation” and “wow that’s a really beautiful knot”. Most rope scenes that I’ve seen the mood is silly or somber, occasionally sexy but I think that’s not as typical as one would expect
how long does tying someone up take
Mines instant there are some fancy knots that you can pre-prep to lasso someone basically.
what do they do for however long it takes to do this
Simper mostly
what is the mood while getting all this stuff set up
Flagrantly homosexual
This answer and BLT above seem to be the two poles of the kink. Autism spectrum rope and knot loving attention to detail and “shut the fuck up I’m tying you up.” I think both are pretty great.
This is the best part of kink to me, everyone gets to make of it what they want, and there’s definitely something and someone(s) for everyone. Kink is for everyone
how long does tying someone up take
From 5-10 minutes for the simplest ties and upward to a couple hours for something really complex.
what do they do for however long it takes to do this
Talking, joking, laughing and so on.
what is the mood while getting all this stuff set up
Mood as when doing something silly and funny together.
I’m just starting out in this, but it’s very fun. The ties I do take a few minutes, really basic single and double column ties. With the one person I’ve explored this with it’s a lot of joking, checking in on how it feels, and the person just feels taken care of. Like it’s special that someone is spending this long just focused on them and their pleasure. The mood ranges, but is often silly, talking, and sometimes silent and anticipatory.

If you’re not opposed to piracy, kemono dot cr has pirated Patreon feeds and it appears that it includes TheDuchy, so if you like that content you can get more of it.
BTW kemono is kinda dead, pawchive dot pw is a similar site that gets updated.

Thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately for OP, it seems like pawchive doesn’t have TheDuchy. But I’ll keep that link handy for my piracy needs.
They do, but under the “display name” Lazarus Redmayne

Awesome work. Keep practicing the rope stuff. I’ve found the hardest part of rope is finding someone to do it with
