Went to a party hosted by a coworker with two comrades last night and got absurdly drunk. Overall was great, we sang together and talked about our love for shooting signs and the need to destroy Israel. But I absentmindedly wolfed several tacos with carne asada. I feel ashamed of this, especially as I have done this type of thing in the past. The only three times I’ve eaten meat in the last year have been at parties/bbqs while heavily drunk. My pattern of behavior reminds me of my friends who are nic fiends in denial who still have “cheeky” drunk cigarettes despite having “totally quit.” Unlike them, however, I do intend to actually change my behavior. Impulse control, gotta work on that. I don’t have any conscious hankering for meat when drunk or sober, just for easily accessible tasty and greasy food. Might make more of an effort to have vegan greasy junk available when I have a night out. Mainly, I feel a bit ashamed of my habit and I am gonna try to change. Anyone else dealt with this type of thing?

My ex GF stopped eating meat when drunk after a blood test and finding she was short of a couple of essential vitamins and minerals that are readily available from meat.

After taking supplements, she didn’t reach for the meat snacks anymore. Apparently, her body was craving the missing elements, and chose the shortest possible path to getting them.

Supplements stopped the desire that only surfaced after a few wines.

It’s really perfectly fine to reduce and minimize your meat/animal product consumption instead of eliminate entirely.

Don’t let online leftists gaslight you into thinking you’re a piece of shit for not being perfectly pure of doctrine like they are. Do a modicum of labor or throw a few dollars to a charity or comrade every now and then and you’ll still be ahead of most virtue signaling online leftists.

Here’s a question: modern civilization is going to collapse within our lifetimes. The global ecosystem is already dead. Global weather systems are falling apart. We are objectively running out of oil, water, and energy. Humanity has a very, very, very bleak future and long term prognosis.

After humanity collapses, they will never reach the industrial age again. Ever. They will never leave the planet. They will never develop funny sand thinking machine. A permanently medieval world.

Doesn’t that make every leftist not immediately taking extreme action to stop this by any means possible just as much of a failure?

I eat the corpses of babies once a week instead of the difficult alternative of not eating their corpses and forcing their parents into slavery.

Carnists will make up the darndest excuses.

Assume it’s happened to most people at some point, I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it too much because it’s hard being around omnivores. Might consider either eating before you go out or just not drinking as much, recognize what causes it and try to mitigate that.

Air fryer means you can make fries or chips in like 15 munutes out of a potato and cab put batter on just about anything. if you can find a decent melty vegan cheese you can order an uncut pizza and toss it in the oven for a bit to melt the cheese (cooking a cut pizza is harder). Seitan shawarma is fantastic. Oh! Dumplings! I used to eat soo many dumplings

Alcohol has defs caused me to have lapses in behaviour. It’s basically one of the primary effects of the drug, coupled with drops in blood sugar and consequent intense cravings for food it’s not terrible surprising.

A lot of people find the difficulty behaving the way they like to behave a motivating factor in quitting or reducing consumption of the drug.

If you do want to keep taking it making sure you have snacks on hand is probably good, and reducing how much you take.

GL <3 we all make mistakes and do things we’re not proud of, what we do next is the thing to focus on.

Don’t mock CWs. I don’t agree with a good chunk of them either but they’re there for a reason. You’re on thin ice here because this comment was reported like 4 times

OP is doing their best to be a better human being and asking for advice to that end. You coming in here and totally dismissing not only them and their valid concerns but the entire movement that seeks liberation for non-human animals, is unhelpful and odious. It also arguably violates the “no anti-veganism” clause in our code of conduct.

Also your last sentence is nonsensical but I suspect it was intended to be even more rude, unempathetic, and dismissive.
