I discovered them a few months ago from a youtube recommendation, even though I don’t speak russian and can barely read cyrillic I think their music sounds amazing. It feels kind of serene, almost what I’d describe as chill but with a sad undertone. Spokoynaya Noch is definitely my favorite among the songs I’ve heard so far. I was expecting them to sound more like Molchat Doma but was pleasantly surprised with what I got instead.
Its like the go to dad rock of Russia. Every time I bring it up to anyone else they look confused which is a shame.
It’s like the most famous band in Russia. People still talk about and remember Tsoi fondly. Molchat Doma is a modern band and unrelated to Kino.
I know they’re unrelated, I just thought they were when I first heard them because they were recommended right after a Molchat Doma song. It’s good to know they’re still famous though!
Fuckin’ love 'em. I just watched The Needle, which features Viktor Tsoi being super cool while breaking up a drug ring.
I also heard my mail carrier listening to “Группа крови” not long ago.

Spokoymaya Noch was the second song of theirs I listened to and I wish I could listen to it for the first time again, just like a few other important songs in my life. Surprisingly they made a happy song
Maybe you’ll like Свидетельство О Смерти too, they sound very lofi (late 90s indie Russian band) with the guitars and synths and drum machines, but more energetic. My fave are Петля and Собаке Собачя Смерт.
There’s also Yanka Diagileva who is from the 80s like Kino and approaches their vibe more, but I haven’t checked much of her music
