I don’t own a console, so I’m not buying it buuuut since it is basically the biggest release of anything ever, I felt a thread with the first extended look was appropriate. ( I know there are leaks but those were just snipptets)
I think it looks cool. There are two playable characters who are a couple. I think it looks cooler than GTA 5, but if youve never been a fan of the GTA series, I doubt this is going to change your mind.
it says i have to send my id to the government if i want to see it bcs im British nvm ig
In preparation I finally finished GTAV. I bought it on sale in like 2022 and only finished about 1/3 of the main story. I picked it up again and replayed it. It was very whelming and there’s enough stuff that frustrates me about the game to not treat it like this great cultural artifact. I then started playing GTAO for the first time ever, and realized how much shit was cut from single-player to support this crime MMORPG. But I saw a vision of what R* wanted: a highly popular live service game that overshadows a single player-experience. It’s not even about fun because it’s mostly grinding the typical “drive here, shoot this, deliver this” gameplay but with the added aspect of people who spent $3000 real money on the game so they could grief people as a hobby. But the proof-of-concept for what GTA VI’s online could be is there and it’s kind of frightening.
In fact, the devs said that the game is way more freeform than previous entries. I expect the single-player experience for VI to play a lot like GTAO. And that’s why this game really needs to fail (but it won’t). It’s just setting up another dreary entry in the history of gaming that ends with some kind of live betting cyber-torture VR experience developed by slaves in Saudi Arabia for grotesque “middle class” pod people in the US. If VI were to fumble the bag then we could at least have a long interim of bespoke indie nostalgia slop that’s annoying to talk about but at least not the torment nexus of gaming. The pod people thing is unavoidable though, I’m afraid.
Just purely talking from personal taste: It’s going to be serviceable “drive here, shoot this, deliver this” gaming with lots of detail nobody cares about except youtubers who make their living pointing out how ice cubes melt in the background. As someone who has lived in Miami, this is the first thing I’ve seen that kind of feels like the real thing (except for all the wrong geography). Nothing I saw in the leaks really made it feel like south Florida, it could have been Los Santos again. And it’s obvious we’re getting 2013-2017 cultural references as the main course. That’s the problem with them deciding every entry needs to be modern. IV felt like 2002. V felt more like 2008. With as fast as everything is now, this will not feel like a game set in 2026.
I will treat it like V. I will wait another 5-10 years before I buy it on deep discount and then complain about it online.
i like that the guy sounds like elvis
I felt no emotions at all watching this, I was hoping for like any banter between the couple but they just kinda feel flat for the whole 20 minutes. Nobody will ever beat the chemistry between Niko and Roman. It looks visually impressive I suppose but I can see the classic rockstar stiff gameplay bleeding out at every corner. I did laugh at the livestreamer guy which is one more laugh than the entire franchise has given me.
Watching the trailer just made me want to replay Gta 4 again. The hud icons that hinted at police detection mechanics being expanded upon were cool and it’s nice that there’s now an option to picklock cars. That’s about it though. Also Cyberpunk, I’d rather just play Cyberpunk and Gta 4. I still have a Gta 4 expansion I never played anyway.
Hello cousin do you want to go bowling
I’m just not upgrading my pc for one game. I’m not a young buck who can handle that sort of thing anymore.
It’s a grand theft auto game. All the good and bad that comes with that. Doesn’t seem like it’s anything more than a ridiculously fancy coat of paint on the formula. Still stuck in long walk and talks where you shoot when it gets shooty and you walk and follow otherwise. The free form mayhem simulator might be better, but they aren’t showing it off.
The story seems like it could be okay, but it seems like it’s just the old formula of starting with shitty jobs and shitty people until you end up making connections to billionaires and you’re running missions for them until they try and betray you. The girl Lucia seems pretty cool, but the white boy is probably the most boring protagonist ever.
I will play it at some point, if only for the open world hijinx, I lost a hundred hours just exploring read dead 2; granted hunting was very compelling in that game, and this seems unlikely to have hunting.
gta v sort of had hunting so you never know
At 18:20 in the trailer, the player kidnaps a streamer. The streamer says “Did you steal my friend’s car? Holy shit! Chat, what do I do?” “Look chat, the actual cops are chasing us.”
he’s doing the trunk challenge, let him live!
not any kind of gamer really but but casting Stephen Root and featuring nearly photorealistic automotive cop murder…you have my attention.
Oh fuck Stephen Root is int it?! I was not going to bother at all with this but maybe in like 4 years if I’m still alive I will pirate it.
lol, that leak got them scared, they had to pull all the stops
This is just an advertisement showing that they bought Peter Gabriel’s discography lol
Man Peter is really going all out in his twilight years. He just had a cameo in the show Silo where he plays a concert for a trillionaire doomsday prepper right before the literal apocalypse and it felt so on the nose I almost fell out of my chair.
