I think a lot of Fascists actually understand science better than the average Lib. They know scientific understanding is only as good as the data you put in, bad data in, bad theories out. But they also know that libs practically worship science as a capital T Truthful thing, that if The Science says something, then it must be true.
So they do things like this. They know they’re full of shit, but they don’t care, if they can influence public perception enough (while also defunding scientific programs enough) then “The Science” will just be treated as vague “common sense” which is easy to manipulate.
And it works on Liberals, really well. I’m sure all of us here have heard at least one Liberal share this opinion that non-white people are inherently less intelligent than whites, just with a condescending attitude instead of a hostile one.

A scientist who goes against the scientific mainstream in a bunch of fields is a conspiracy crank who long lost their ability to engage with the system in a productive way.
The system has a lot of problems, but it’s still many orders of magnitude better at truth finding than any individual YouTube influencer.

there is whole thingy in britain where academic mr. arday was “revealed” to be a plagiarist, was hounded by media (including local fedcobin - novara media), and then was found dead.
one mr. cofnas (in the screenshot) has been behind this episode, and had whole of eugenicist podcast appearances and text work behind him, so that might be the animus behind that crusade of his.
ms. hossenfelder comment strongly implies she agrees with “scientific” views of one mr. cofnas (but of course with such nebulousness, she might say side of science is opposed to such views, if her patreon count were to drop precipitously)
p.s. the whole episode is bad vibes all round, i believe the plagiarism part is likely correct, but all the worst people (with still worse intentions) hounded the guy for what is really trivial matter. literally the worst he may achieved is getting a nothing job from it, while some people manage to mislead whole fields of science with manufactured images/theories. (like normal academic punishment is blacklisting such people, you can’t get job in academy if you plagiarized/lied in your work intentionally. not so much with sexual harassment and appropriating your underlings results tho
