He is one of the best presidents in US history. The orange Mongoose is one of the worst if not the worst. Obama bombed the ever loving shit out of the middle east. Obama deported more people from the US than Trump at the moment.

I would do almost anything to go back to the Obama era, seriously. But I don’t want anyone thinking I believe Obama was some kind of saint. He wasn’t. He simply did things better than Trump.

His immigration policy made more sense. He deported people who actually needed to be deported without resorting to modern-day concentration camps. He used military force in the Middle East, but generally for far more defensible reasons. He was a significantly better diplomat, and he certainly handled Iran better than Trump ever did, without throwing tantrums and shitting himself on national television.

Massacring civilians in Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Iraq

Couping the governments of Honduras, Ukraine, and Egypt

Arming and funding right-wing dictatorships in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

    Keeping Guantánamo Bay open

Deporting more people than Trump ever did

Dismantling his own grassroots progressive organization leading to the loss of over a dozen states to the Tea Party

Provided cover for BP during the Horizon Oil Disaster

Bailed out Wall Street and pushed millions into homelessness and rentiership

Massively expanded the illegal surveillance state, pretty much spying on everyone and anyone

Operation Fast & Furious, i.e. sanctioned illegal gun running by the government

Funded, armed and trained Al-Qaeda in Syria, leading to the rise of ISIS

“Amended” the Smith Mundt Act to make it easier for the US government to spread blatant propaganda at home and especially overseas

Used the IRS to target progressive groupings like Occupy Wall Street, got so bad the director of the Exempt Organizations Unit of the Internal Revenue Service, Lois Lerner resigned

Signed the Lehey Smith America Invents Act, which fucked over inventors and gave corporations increased ability to steal tech and hoard it

Prosecuted more journalists than any previous president in history by criminalizing whistleblowing

Despite liberals ruining the phrase, 2 things can be true at once

Everything CyborgMarx listed were what the real scandals should’ve been but republicans were more concerned with dumb shit that was mostly just a dog whistle for some even dumber racist shit

He deported people who actually needed to be deported without resorting to modern-day concentration camps.

This person has never once spoken to an immigrant in their life. They have no idea what it’s like to be a poor, marginalized immigrant in the US and to live with the ever-present fear of deportation that has existed long before Trump took office.

They have no idea what it’s like to be poor or marginalized in general. Or that they’re persistently a couple paychecks away from becoming the former.

Yup, I’m so tired of being told by other white middle class queer people on reddit-logo that voting Dem is “basic harm reduction” cause I’m like “for who, y’all know we aren’t the only people who matter right?”

Trans person here and yeah. Fuck every single person that tries to use that excuse.

I legit had someone tell me I should “care about myself more than single issues”. That single issue being genocide.

And to them I said no fuck you the lives of millions of Palestinians are in fact more important than the two of us and that if it were a choice between them and myself dying or the continuation of genocide I would die fighting for that without hesitation.

    • Obama bombed the ever loving shit out of the middle east.
    • Obama deported more people from the US than Trump at the moment.

    Oh right.

but generally for far more defensible reasons.

    classic

Can we collective make a rule that anyone saying “defence” or “aggressor” wrong is just put down immediately?

You see, that latino family needed to be deported and have their children stolen by the US goverment!

He used military force in the Middle East, but generally for far more defensible reasons.

I’m sure farmers in Yemen was really dangerous for the US.

He was a significantly better diplomat, and he certainly handled Iran better than Trump ever did, without throwing tantrums and shitting himself on national television.

HE had fucking Hillary Clinton controlling his Iran deal lol

From a communist point of view, its Nixon and tbh I’m not even sure its close. Lincoln was kinda forced into doing what he was doing by the situation at hand, Benjamin Wade would have rocked the South and fully completed Reconstruction (Marx also talked positively about Wade in passing). Nixon kinda just went off and started trading with China despite siege still being a valid tactic. He also made the EPA, made dialysis widely available, and more. He also had a conscience and resigned over it, which is kinda top tier as far as American presidents go. The repercussions of the Nixon admin are also the basis for the current geopolitical situation, 50 years later. Mao also said to a Japanese PM “I told Nixon, ‘I voted for you when you ran for President. You still don’t know.’”

Obama is a pretty ridiculous option. Maybe the best of the presidents after Jimmy Carter? But thats a low ass bar.

I’m not saying Carter is particularly good, I mostly like him because he was a 1 termer and fucked off. Obama was definitely the best steward of empire, but he obviously wasn’t good for any normal every day person.

Also he actually did labor even after his presidency building houses and shit. Something almost no other president did.

Also his peanut farm was more like the family ranches of old than industrial ag of today.

The best thing about Nixon was his unending revulsion and hatred for Washington D.C. and the East Coast elite.

The worst part about Nixon was that he was a lying piece of shit who pretty much let Kissinger run rampant in the Department of Defense.

That said, as a communist, Nixon is a mixed bag, because while he absolutely set the stage for the Chinese Century, his tactics are also what set the stage for the dissolution of the USSR, by demonstrating to the developing Russian oligarchs that integration into the Western Economy was a possibility, when that was never the intention with Russia.

It was a masterstroke of genius, on both the part of the CPC and the U.S., mostly to the detriment of international communism (not that it was in a particularly great spot at that point, but still).

Normalizing with Cuba and the JCPOA with Iran were both good. He was relatively less zionist than the presidents around him. That’s about it imo, and it probably is enough to set him above the others.

He did some good in his post presidency. He visited Haiti to avoid an invasion by the US and managed to negociate the return of the Socialist Catholic President. He managed to visit North Korea and fuck Bill Clinton’s Plan to attack North Korea. He sided with Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales during the 2004 coup attempt in Venezuela and crisis in Bolivia. He wrote a book that pissed Israel so much that he basically got kicked out of the Democrat Party. Though he still funded the Genocide in East Timor and the Taliban in Afghanistan when he was president.

What i’m learning is that America does what America always does. The only difference under Trump is that they have realised they don’t even need to do the legwork first. If you don’t like it? what are you going to do? Vote harder next time? They know they have sufficiently pacified the American people so revoloution isn’t going to happen.

It’s amazing how Trump makes people forget about the slavery supporter whose presidency ended with a civil war. Buchanan is hard to beat as the worst president.
