this one is misleading because if you vote to approve rubio it means he leaves the senate and you don’t have to work with him anymore.

Bernie Sanders voted to confirm Marco Rubio. If that doesn’t encapsulate the state of US government, nothing does.

Bernie Sanders is trying to “save” the demon cracker nation and if that isn’t the biggest strike against him then I don’t know what is.

They’re not the same. One serves as controlled opposition to the other party that speedruns the decline.

You’re right, they’re not the same, they each play a different role in achieving the same end goal which is reinforcing and reproducing ruling class hegemony. The two parties aren’t the same in the same way that the two cops in the “good cop/bad cop” ruse aren’t the same but still serve the same shared ultimate purpose.

They voted for something that obviously wouldn’t pass? You can have your guys take credit for something when they actually do it, i.e. when you can even attempt to claim that there was an actual victory and not just a symbolic victory.

One of the parties is rapidly moving closer to your position on the issue most important to you, and the other one isn’t. They aren’t the same.

The issue most important to me is the establishment of socialism, but setting that aside, you’re missing the point. This doesn’t represent rapid movement, it represents a rhetorical shift from a party that needs to sort of pretend to care what any of its supporters think to reduce the extent that they are hemorrhaging support. It is unlikely that the dems will actually “change their position on Israel” to something half-unconscionable until Israel’s condition has decayed so rapidly that the old position is irrelevant, which doesn’t actually represent a change in position because they would still support Israel if it was still viable.

It’s moving closer to our position because we (communists) are taking it over and replacing them. Not because they are moving left. They would not be moving anywhere without the leverage that is being generated.
