That’s kinda disgusting, what the fuck?

Nuclear war is fucking terrifying, the USSR was right to fear it.

“important to history” is a derranged standard for evaluating the worth of people.

This reads to me as being a joke coming from him. The issue of nuclear politics produced a lot of sardonic humor.

I remember seeing that exact same argument used to justify vaccine apartheid. Definitely a part of Mao’s 30%.

I do not think he was serious. I think it is fair to say we shouldn’t joke about such things but unfortunately that’s how I cope

Part of the sino-soviet split stuff was that Mao was not particularly reluctant about nuclear war as he thought it would hurt capitalist nations more.

Mao was a Posadist before Posadas!?

Not exactly. The Posadist position is largely one that was popular with many trotzkists during the cold war - he argued that a nuclear exchange between the USA and USSR would be inevitable due to the inherent structural flaws of both systems. Obviously, this has been proven wrong by historic events. Although looking over the list of “nuclear close calls” is downright terrifying and demonstrates how close humanity was to a world-shattering nuclear war with untold millions of deaths, it is very notable how routinely that was actually the fault of the USA or its allies.

On top of this basic premise that was commonplace in “neither Washington or Moscow” leftist circles all over the world in the mid 20th century, Posadas also literally believed a nuclear war would lead to communist aliens showing up to rescue the survivors. I do not mean to be sectarian in any of this, i am merely laying out the actual historic positions of these tendencies and how poorly they have aged.

Yes, i know this was a shitpost, but i’m semi-hyperfixated on nukes and until i can have a small recreational arsenal of my own i want to understand which responsibilities and strategic considerations come with owning these very interesting means of ensuring my geopolitical sovereignty.
