Microsoft laid of 25% of Obsidian, cancelled the Avowed sequel and is making them make something that will be profitable.

I still can’t believe that it took corpos 5 years to have this big brain idea.

Fair! West coast games are generally more solid, but probably less because of setting alone and more since the developers weren’t Bethesda lol. Although east coast factions badly need additions and refinement IMO. A Fallout game outside the US, or the coasts would be fascinating and I think there’s a lot of interesting based on the mods like the one for the UK or Mexico, but as cool as that would be knowing Bethesda, they’ll try to play it safe and stick to the east coast ;')

Isometric would be so so awesome :D I don’t know if you know Newblood (I am a shill ashamedly, their games are the pride of my library) but they’re actually developing an isometric game inspired by Fallout 1 and 2! I don’t think it can ever be comparable to the games exactly, but since it’s Newblood I’m pretty optimistic, and you might be interested if you’re a fan of the old games too

I’m so sad the Nuevo Mexico project got shut down, and I’m furious that it was because of a racist reporting the mod developer.

I had no idea that Newblood was making an isometric RPG inspired by FO1 & 2! I love some of their published games like Gloomwood, Dusk, and Ultrakill, so that’s awesome!

Oh you’re a Newblood fan that plays Gloomwood too? Hell yeah lmao I didn’t know you could get even cooler

What a shame some right-wing ass has to ruin it for everyone and the dev’s life. Iirc, they weren’t deported in the end? But the dev’s response is reasonable regardless :c)

Its funny how Fallout being a critique of capitalism and the show literally showing destroying the world for profit, there’s still such a chud part of the fanbase (Especially the ones who like liberty prime, a walking critique of them lol.)

Aww, thanks comrade! You’re awesome too!!!

Yea, from what I could gather, the lead dev of Nuevo Mexico wasn’t actually deported in the end, but it’s entirely understandable to not work on a labor of love for the community when said community has members willing to endanger you for it. One of the frustrating things about the Fallout IP is that they never actually commit to being a real critique of capitalism, Tim Cain said it was never meant to be a critique of capitalism specifically, only that some of the devs of 1 and especially 2 took it in that direction for the parts they worked on. That’s why it is thematically inconsistent, and incomplete.

As much as I love Fallout, the fact that its fanbase has so many right-wingers that love it is more of an expression of the deliberate choice to not take a firm stance. New Vegas is the most overtly left, and that still gets Legion fans for similar reasons why Red Alert is so beloved by communists. Either way, very excited for a new Sawyer led Fallout, and I hope Chris Avellone isn’t involved much, if at all. His dialogue is generally great, but he has horrible thematic views of Fallout, and most people hate working with him.
