This doesn’t surprise me in the least. I have been saying for a couple of years now that animals are gaining sentience. Earlier this week I read another article about about primates making weapons.
Most animals are sentient. Sapience is likely what you mean.
Also, tools have been a thing for a while in primates and weapons are just tools of warfare

Since we’re animals, animals have been sentient as long as we’ve been. But not likely way before that as well.
Israel might have to do what’s necessary to stop those weapons from reaching its borders.
