Doubtful that morality took over. They would never have been promoted to that extent if that was their character.
More likely, they see a ground invasion using just a few tens of thousands of troops as near suicidal.
There was also recently a plan drawn up to take a ton of uranium from Iran and the plan demonstrated how infeasible the mission was.

whoever they get to execute the invasion (Operation: Epic Self Own) is going to be completely hung out to dry when it becomes a turkey shoot and its just boxes of mismatched and BBQ’d body parts coming back.

I mean with these dipshits I think it’s more likely that both the firings and the exceptionally poor performance share a common cause.
