The bullet missed. The injury to his ear was from the secret service agent slamming against his head as he ducked down. Replay footage of the event confirmed.
But I doubt it was staged. It was a real assassination attempt. Maybe the next one will go better. Thoughts and prayers.

Crazy that in that moment of totally unprepared chaos, his first thought wasn’t personal safety, or safety for the president, but rather moving journalists into an exposed area in an active shooter zone for a better angle of Trump posing.
Crazy how we still know almost nothing about the shooter, nor is anyone really calling to find out.

The blood might also have come from scraping the back of his hand against the agent’s pistol when he first ducked down. Either way, superficial injury and the bullet was likely way off based on the angles.
