I work retail and the store was absolutely dead for several hours, and the only customers that came in were kinda chuddy or spoke English as a second language and thus wouldn’t have heard about it. It’s not much, but it was about the same effect on sales as having it pour rain all day so I guess it’s something. If libs extend the boycott beyond one day retail might take note, being rained out for months will make the capitalists .
Explaining a general strike to an American: imagine not buying a burger
I do the no buy thing erday… Because I’m broke
I “participated”. Planned purchases: $0, actual purchases: $0. To be fair: that’s literally what I was going to do anyway. I’ve been boycotting every day for years. Keep up, libs. Imagine thinking not buying a bunch of consumer treat shit you didn’t need in the first place for an entire day is a “protest”.
“I delayed gratification for an entire 24 hours! Notice me, senpai!” {Immediately goes out and buys the thing they were going to buy yesterday if they hadn’t been “protesting”.}
A one day boycott without any demands is hilariously meaningless though
I really do believe this is a psy-op. No honest progressive organizer with even a middle school understanding of history would get behind a one-day boycott, of NO business in particular, with NO end goals, completely offset by purchases the previous and following days. It is quite literally LESS effective than posting a black square on instagram, because at least everyone understood the black squares had no material consequences.
i think you underestimate how stupid and how politically unaware the average person is. thought process begins and ends with “but it sends a message!” and then they go back to their slop. even the ones that are tempted to think about things will realise that ~you’re a bad person if you don’t~ and they’ll be call a doomer/tankie/maga if they question it
I made boycottoligarchs.com to try and make it less meaningless. If anyone wants to join my org (literally just me) thats cool

This should be a site tagline
