[2015] Brexit? Never gonna happen No way people would vote for that it would be so silly
[2020] A second Trump presidency? What are you smoking, there’s no way US citizens would want this guy back after what he did
[2025] Actual fascism, in my country? Mate what are you talking about, our people would never let it happen, at the very least they would not vote for it

I am kind of torn about therapy. This seems beside the point but hear me out. I am autistic, every time my therapist explains normal people to me increases my belief that you lot are too stupid to self govern. You obviously can’t govern each other either autocraticly and no one sane would do it anyway. Interesting problem, unfortunate that it affects everyone.
Out of curiosity, how do you think things should be done that differs from “normal” people.
I’m someone who has been in therapy for years and seen several different professionals in that journey, and yet I keep getting told that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with me. As someone who is clinically “normal”, I look at people in power and can’t help but see unchecked mental illness everywhere. I don’t think most of those folks would go through the same questioning and come out clear.
As far as the people who vote for them, the last five generations have been exposed to the most advanced and insidious propaganda machines of all time. Each generation gets a little better at seeing it, but then something new comes along and they’re bamboozled again. Put simply, the human brain is not designed to ward off this much manipulation.
Yeah I don’t know. I want to believe people can do it, to be honest. Leaders do seem messed up but it feels to me that the problem is just accepting that. Shit should be burning in the streets all over the “western world”.
I get human brains aren’t made to ward off the propaganda but I can’t empathise with an inability to bring some/any logic to bear. I’m not immune to propaganda, I used to read the Economist. What I can’t understand is people who cannot grow past convenient nonsense.
Edit: second thought, I don’t represent the neurodivergent but my personal feeling is “normal” people don’t care about what’s true. That could just be my own obsession, I do physics for a reason.
The fact that maga voters get the same say in how our country functions as someone who is not so gullible and ignorant has been rubbing me the wrong way lately. I don’t think we should limit voting, because it’s too vague to really police but Jesus. It just feels bad.
