I’m generally against waving the flag of another nation at a protest. Nothing wrong with protesting about those issues—your intention about foreign affairs is just usually a lot clearer with a sign instead of a flag.

What would justice look like? I’m genuinely curious. There isn’t a court outside of America that can hold the president accountable, and the other option is war, which would be deadly on a massive scale. It’s insane that impeachment hasn’t happened yet, and unless the legislative branch does something to remove the cancer from the White House, then I don’t see justice being delivered.

My girlfriend has EDS. It is such a strange disease.

On the one hand, it gives you smooth stretchy skin that is resistant to wrinkles, long features that can be very beautiful, and enhanced flexibility that can be fun in the bedroom.

Pass the Popcorn or another private tracker. They are archives for old and quality films. Public trackers don’t encourage preservation and seeding in the same way.

Get an FTP program and connect that way. I use the same service that you do, and this is the most convenient and reliable method I know of. The FTP credentials are listed in your account control panel.

Out of curiosity, how do you think things should be done that differs from “normal” people.

I’m someone who has been in therapy for years and seen several different professionals in that journey, and yet I keep getting told that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with me. As someone who is clinically “normal”, I look at people in power and can’t help but see unchecked mental illness everywhere. I don’t think most of those folks would go through the same questioning and come out clear.

As far as the people who vote for them, the last five generations have been exposed to the most advanced and insidious propaganda machines of all time. Each generation gets a little better at seeing it, but then something new comes along and they’re bamboozled again. Put simply, the human brain is not designed to ward off this much manipulation.

My ratchet way of doing it is Backblaze. There is a docker container that lets you run the unlimited personal plan on Linux by emulating a windows environment. They let you set an encryption key so that they can’t access your data.

I’m sure there are a lot more professional and secure ways to do it, but my way is cheap, easy, and works.

I know price influences demand, but it doesn’t address need. Most of California is designed in a way that basically requires a car—it isn’t like the northeast with convenient and affordable trains to take you anywhere you need to go.

Yes, this method will likely convince some people to switch, and it will likely reduce car usage as well, but it will also place a huge financial burden on people who need their vehicle to live and who can’t afford an electric vehicle, which not only costs more to buy, but also costs more to maintain and has a shorter lifespan than gas cars.

California has an immense amount of money compared to other states. If you are asking me to come up with a better solution than making gas prohibitively expensive, my solution would probably be to emulate New York City, but statewide.

Make every city extremely walkable. Create subways in those cities for extended travel, ideally with more of an eye towards accessibility than New York has. Create an extensive high speed rail system that goes between cities and towns that is faster and more convenient than a car. Make the carrot of other transportation options absolutely massive, and then incorporate the stick of higher gas prices.

The downside to that approach is that it would likely be a multi-trillion dollar investment. You could potentially lower the cost a little by excluding some smaller towns from this overhaul, but those people should be given something to make that equitable, like giving them a massive discount on buying electric cars somehow.

I’m no politician or expert, I know I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that I am someone who would be driven to poverty if I had to buy a new car right now or pay $8 for gas, especially factoring in the extremely high cost of living in California.

That seems to be the case. I’m really surprised how many people are downvoting this thread of comments just for having a realistic discussion about the drawbacks to financially penalizing cars. Nobody here is advocating for big oil, but you’d sure think that from the reaction.
