Americans have a weird quirk with preferring “local” grocery stores but not bothering to look up who actually owns their grocery store. So the majority of “local” chains are just regional Kroger brands or in this case Food Lion is the southern equivalent of Dutch Delhaize
Thanks for explaining, I always find it weird why they rebrand instead of making their name global but I guess it makes sense if the market wants it that way.
Same with takeaway being called grub hub, loved that one when I found out 😂

That’s not the same as takeaway at all. Like at all at all.
GrubHub and takeaway were two entirely separate companies that merged.
The names were already in use at the same time and had nothing to do with each other before that.
They aren’t regional variants.
