Let’s let him be president for life, as long as that life is less than four more years. Anything beyond that has a “second amendment solution”, as I’ve heard countless Republicans describe.

as I’ve heard countless Republicans describe

99% of whom are fucking chicken hawks.

The only ones who put their money where their mouths are got arrested for occupying BLM land in Oregon, or later, Congress.

Was it not already clear last time when he encouraged his followers to launch an insurrection when he lost?! How much fucking warning do you need?

The insurrection happened because conservatives saw that they couldn’t win democratically.

This time they did, with the help of voter suppression.

Give a man a fire, he’ll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.

I was called out (on Reddit) for pointing out how insanely dangerous this comment was in 2018.

Trump also praised China’s President Xi Jinping for recently consolidating power and extending his potential tenure, musing he wouldn’t mind making such a maneuver himself. “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great,” Trump said. “And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.”

this is some annoying meta-irony thing that a politician should not be doing, because it is very difficult to discern a position from it. you have to take him both literally and sarcastically at the same time, which is about as useful as ignoring him. nobody has a clue what’s going on when he talks

When ‘jokes’ align with actions, they stop being jokes—this is a blueprint for authoritarianism. Well-supported claims and critical analysis.

I mean, it’s pretty obvious to anyone paying attention.

He wants to be America’s Putin

I hope you’re right, but we can’t even get our fellow citizens to vote against fascism. Now some are expecting these same people to protest, engage in economic boycotts, risk their livelihoods by staying home from their jobs, and more!?

His own guys tried to shoot him already. Twice. If he tries to outright break the constitution? Won’t take long.

I don’t think so. Dying of natural causes signals to Republicans that they just need to try again but with a younger fascist.

Dying from, say, a guillotine sends a different signal.

We can certainly hope, but evil people have a way of clinging to life in ways that seem almost unnatural. Dick Cheney is still alive for god’s sake.
