I know these types. Grocery prices supposedly quadrupled a year or few back. Having experienced quite a bit of inflation myself but knowing quite well that my grocery bill wasn’t even double pre-Covid era prices, I inquired further. The only example at the time of anything that had even remotely quadrupled in price was eggs. And that was a temporary thing at the time blamed on bird flu but later also revealed to be also due to corporate greed.

I remember that site, but 80s and 90s horror movies had already inoculated me against the gore aspects of it. There were quite a few fictional and non-fictional gore clips movies popping up in video rental stores back in those days. Okay, it’s starting to add up.
I’ve tried all the “quick chill” methods I’ve heard of, but none of them work as quickly or as well as the icecream maker method. Watered down ice with some table salt. Set your unopened beer into a slurry like that, and in about 20 - 30 minutes, it’s surpremely cold. None of the “5 minutes and it’s ice cold” methods work as well or as quickly to be honest. At least not in my climate and in my experience.

So, most assassin bugs are actually be beneficial insects. It’s a large group of true bugs, and most of them feed on other invertebrates.
As a@athairmor pointed out there are some types that feed on human blood and spread potentially deadly diseases. But these are the exceptions.
You should be concerned if you live in areas where the parasite carrying types live.
And you should be concerned if you are harassing/handling other types of assassin bug because many of them have very painful “stings” (it’s not actually a sting it’s their version of a bite, since they have needle like mouths they can use to jab in defense). So long as you leave those types alone, you generally won’t end up on their list.
I never bought any, but I was tempted to try the dill pickle flavored ice cream that I saw for sale last year. A disappointingly large proportion of the general population appears to be unable to tell the difference between centipedes and millipedes. Is it possible that the “centipedes” you saw were actually millipedes? If so, they may have been “fucking”, or at least the millipede equivalent of it.
Additionally, it appears that this “fact” is actually wrong (big surprise, huh?). Many species of centipede do have courtship strategies that involve males and females meeting up. The sexes may even employ various forms of physical touch as part of the process. So, it’s certainly possible that the critters you saw where centipedes courting each other.
