Question for all the comrades! Would you and/or groups you organize with be interested in an anonymous job board site for hosting job openings in companies you work at that you would like filled with a comrade or a salt?
High level idea is:
- Worker Karl becomes aware of job posting at their company ExploitCo.
- Karl creates an anonymous posting on the site (both Karl and the co are anon) that includes the role, the geographic region and/or remote, some expectations of the role per the existing job posting, and details for why a comrade is looking for another comrade (organizing assistance, camaraderie, etc)
- Interested workers can reply to the poster via a generated email ala craigslist (attempting to maintain anonymity until trust can be established)
- Once trust is established the poster and applicants can make a plan to address get the comrade in the door (referrals, interview tips, taking over interviewing for that applicant if able, etc)
- Post is automatically deleted after some time.
Reasons for its own site vs existing forum:
- encourage stronger anonymity by avoiding the reuse of handles for different types of posting
- ability to tack on extra features or layers of indirection as needed
Drawbacks:
- main concern is employers/bad actors attempting to use it as a honey pot. Doesn’t seem like a problem to worry about right now obv.
Seems like a lot of opsec considerations and for a probably tiny audience. However its a very cool idea.
Yeah, no, that’d be incredible. Only worry would be fed infiltration but I honestly think you could get around that with some screening?
only Posters with a history of Orthodox Shitposting prior to this post will be allowed to join, at least at first
Screening does seem like a simple solution. Are you thinking for the job posting side, the applicant side, or both?
I guess, for example, if a comrade were to post a job they could refer someone to, they could select an applicant and have a screening call with them just to make sure they’re genuine comrades.
I do not especially care for my current work and have been prepping software engineering job interviews for a bit. This sounds like a pretty good shout
I highly recommend against this for infosec reasons.
this is 100% my main concern as well. i’m particularly concerned that it could potentially be simple for an employer to put together that a unionization effort is starting/ongoing, or unrelated people could be circumstantially linked together in a way that would invite feds to investigate.
I definitely have no intention of putting a site like this together without a robust threat model and collaboration with other infosec oriented folks.
FWIW i’d likely have the same reaction as you if someone else posted this on the bear site.
I think this is one of those things where proper anonymity is unlikely and it centralizes targets for the threats in a way that requires very little effort for them. I think it’s worth comparing to just running an irl leftist job fair. I’ve seen folks do it. Not my bag but the opportunity to coordinate is much better and threats have to show up in-person, locally.
someone should go build up such a thing completely unrelated to hexbear and then we can find it organically
I would use this.
My workplace needs strong union members, and especially people who can engage in unity-struggle-unity with their fellow workers, and who will show up for developing themselves and others. I can’t do any of that (yet), I dont know what I’m doing, and I just want people to show tf up.
I dont know how it should be implemented. I dont want to be in charge of vetting someone, cause I’m not qualified to do it. But even just a job board that people can post to going “hey this workplace could use a comrade” and then letting what will be, be? that could be useful.
If this was created I would tell my rep, and let them make determinations about using it probably.
I’d be worried about opsec type stuff, but if there was a job in the area with a comrade there I would love that
this would be cool as hell. im a court clerk in a union so of course i’d want my union full of comrades
The right is openly doing this on twitter right now btw, having groypers recommend other groypers for jobs and setting up little groyper cliques.
Haven’t white supremacist groups been doing this with the police for decades? One of the reasons why they’re like that
