    i don’t understand this on a linguistic level. and i speak > 3 languages.

    but seriously can someone help clarify the therapist-therapizee interaction for me? is the screenshot speaker/OP a wife or a husband? etc

      The person posting this is one of the developers of Night In The Woods, a pretty well liked game.

      He says that he feels that the way ADHD manifests is that he acts in a way he feels makes him an asshole husband. (I.e. a poor partner)

      Their therapist responds that they (The therapist) has multiple clients with ADHD who are women. Which they feel by necessity precludes someone from being an asshole husband.

      The client says that obviously women can be assholes too.

      The therapist responds by stating that what precludes them from being asshole husbands is that women cannot be husbands.

      The client finds this notion absurd. Women can obviously be husbands. Many women are husbands.

        thank you for so much detail

        so if i understand, the motivation for the post was to criticize/ridicule/spotlight the therapist for:

        1. speaking gender-normatively
        2. and/or possibly making a tedious grammar joke about “husband”-ness being part of the negative symptom instead of “spouse”

        i think?

        at first i thought “that’s a ridiculous statement” idea was referring to #2 above. maybe that’s what got me in the wrong track in interpreting this post.

        also the grammar was really difficult to parse
