dw Garbodor would make a perfectly good Cassette beast or Pal, but Grimer, Muk, Koffing and Weezing had the pollution/waste angle down, turning every single item into a pokeman is how you end up with Klefki
I like klefki and vanillice and nacli better than a lot of them tbh but i am a maximalist for pokemon now. I used to argue that pidgey, rattata, voltorb, and geodude are less inspired than most of the new designs but i don’t care anymore they’re all cool

The bug type was always good if you’re not a loser
Good against Grass, Psychic and Fighting types
Only big downside is it being weak to Fire, Flying and Rock

heracross, forretress, scizor, beedrill-mega, ninjask, buzzwole, araquanid have all seen OU tier in various gens if you’re talking about competitively
they are an underrepresented typing, mostly due to their defensive weakness (with the exception of bug/steel, but then you have 4x weak fire). It is a very good offensive typing though, and many bug-type moves are very common throughout almost all gens. In Gen 3 OU, Hidden Power is most commonly Bug type or Flying type on physical attackers since there aren’t enough good moves of those typings until later gens (4x effective against celebi and breloom, relevant for dugtrio-trapping and coverage as celebi shrugs off all other common physical types like rock, fighting, ground).
