This guy’s channel is half decent, ppl hate when I post the videos in electric vehicle comms because they’re incapable of nuance, but I’ve been following him for a while and he’s not anti electrification at all, he’s just dedicated to posting about the problems which have not (in his view) inspired sufficient regulation and/or preparation yet. He’s also looked into various battery chemistries and talked to people who do all sorts of independent lab testing, etc.
The sad fact is, because of how capitalism works, in the USA we are going to need to have a grisly mass casualty event or three before some of the more problematic rare failure conditions of slapping high energy density batteries everywhere and YOLOing it are properly dealt with by regulations. The video he posted this week about tests of scooter, ebike, and sit-down scooter battery fires in a rail car was concerning.
The sad fact is, because of how capitalism works, in the USA we are going to need to have a grisly mass casualty event or three before some of the more problematic rare failure conditions of slapping high energy density batteries everywhere and YOLOing it are properly dealt with by regulations.
