Christians really be out here attributing all evil to Satan as if the entire book of Job didn’t highlight Satan’s subservience to God and lack of ability to act in any capacity outside of express permission.
If you believe God created everything and evil exists you best believe God created that too.
Tbf I haven’t read the Bible either as a non-Christian. I just like to read about smth before I commit to it and idrc about metaphysics much to read a religious book
Fair, but you’re not being hypocritical then! Folks who claim to believe what any given text says, should at least read it before claiming to agree with it.

I grew up absolutely non religious. I went to church a couple of times, vecause i was bored. At some point i thought i should read the bible, because it had such a huge impact on people, and the church bible had some cool pictures in it. I didn’t got too far, what an absolute shit book. Knowing that people read or pretend to reqd it and believe it is frightening to say the least.
Satan also just translates as “The Accuser”. He’s just an angel whose job it is to make sure Jesus is really That Guy. Satan doesn’t really show up all that much or even exist in the way modern christians think he does. Don’t get me started on the whole “el” thing.
Edit:
If you believe God created everything and evil exists you best believe God created that too
Eh. Yahweh used to be a storm deity part of a larger Pantheon, he was just the regional god of Palestine. Time passes, things get murked together and it all becomes confusing. Why would God need to fight Leviathan? Didnt he create it? Why is god picking losers like David to be his Profets, when they disappoint him time and again? Why is there evil in the world?
Because the Bible is a weird document. Go read beanytuesdays post about the different Devils. Or be a gnostic.
If I remember my catechismus this is more a case of being sent by god. Like he’s a tester of sort. Similar character to the “Satan” that god makes a wager with about Job. These two aren’t necessarily the same either, they’re just two creatures that have less faith in Gods creations than he does.
I had half a joke percolating in my head yesterday about Job like “why the fuck would anyone want a Job, didn’t anyone read the bible and see the shit god did to that guy?” but couldn’t work out how to make it funny

They ain’t never read their Isaiah 45:7.

Part of their apocryphal mythology is that angels don’t have free will, and the angels rebelled because God created humans and loved them more.
But like. If they don’t have free will, then their “rebellion” is just God playing with his dolls.
