Real COD would make you do a mission where you’re supposed to stop the Russians from doing it and at the end of the mission you’re betrayed by one of your comrades who’s been working with Russia the entire time. The next cutscene show’s gas prices rising all over Europe and then random acts of terrorism because of it. Next mission has you doing one of those gunship style missions but it’s drone warfare against Iran or DPRK or something as part of an ultra-secret stealth attack.
My second favorite idea is Cold War setting one where you do No Russian against grocery stores in the Brabant. Not really sure how it would do a nationalism though.
It would be part of a plot line about how Operation Gladio was necessary and cool
