yeah maybe during the cultural revolution were students not taught about “western decadence” but literally everyone in china knows that many countries elect their heads of government by mass election systems. foreign elections are on the news constantly.
also many schools for rich people use foreign curriculums, so the students can go to university overseas (and work in foreign companies and steal your tech
), there are probably thousands of students taking american “civics” classes in high school
I think a better way to look at it is “Westerners are being encouraged to believe this more and more.” 10, 20 years ago this would’ve been a ridiculous statement, but as QOL has improved in China, the west has to control the narrative, so they spread a lot of lies about China, and borrow from their “North Korea” playbook to do so. Give it a few years and westerners will be saying that Chinese people aren’t taught that other countries exist and you go to jail if you mention them.
